Chit man, you'll get those speeds with the stock cam! That'll be a sweet setup on that boat

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
I've held mine at 4800 WFO for 16 miles straight down the Atchafalaya River with no issues. And that was with a load of 3 people, 5 doz deks, all our hunting shit and an icechest full of food and drinks to spend the day. held 33.8-33.9 the entire way that morn. So as far as holding WFO for a long time, I think I proved that it will with that run. And didi it about a doz times like that.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
So here is a question. Being that I have never installed a Mikuni before...
Can yall post some pics of how the mikuni is setup so that I can get an idea of what, if anything, happens with the existing linkage and governer arm? As I am waiting for parts to be worked on, I thought I would start brainstorming my throttle cable and linkage connections...

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
You'll like it better with the cam, no doubt. Heck, I cadillac at 27 turnin' 3800 or so and that cam Banded is runnin has produced the best so far.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
You're gonna trash all that so while you've got it apart take the flag off the gov arm and replace the back screw with red locktite. I put a piece of rubber hose and a clamp on the outside just to limit any further movement.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Leave the gov shaft, the screw and hose w/ clamp holds it so you're using what's there for sealing. You'll be removing ALL the gov arms (inside and out) and the plates/bearings that are attached to the cam itself

I gotcha now. I saw on the BPS site that it was removed when changing a cam and replace with a bolt. Thanks Bug!

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
This thread is making me really regret dumping more money into briggs to try and get more out of it. Should have just parted the motor out and bought a Kawi, at this point i would further ahead in the game going the Kawi route.

Well the cam was just picked up and is on its way to be Iskyfied.
Should be picking the heads up tomorrow and start to P&P while waiting for the cam to come back...

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
I have ran Isky camshafts and valve train parts in other types of engines for years. They build great stuff and are willing to think outside the box to get something done for you.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Many times a new thread will start with someone just coming into the MM world or maybe they've been around for awhile and finally get the itch to mod their Bitch & Shit-on engine for more carrying capacity and what not... Well, for the vertical shaft MM's out there, the Kawasaki is the best mod you can do (period) So quit thinking about it and kick that B&S off in the drink and bolt on a real engine.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Of those of you that are running the aftermarket valve springs, any of you feel with your hands the stiffness of the spring? I really could not tell much difference when compressing the spring in one hand. Also, did any of you not lash your brand new valves? I was considering not doing it as I had all of them marked to go back to the same location. I thought it may make more sense to run it for a while and then lash them... Thoughts?

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
The way I should have put that question is "Since this is a brand new engine, and the valves are in the original locations, did it seem necessary to to SEAT or LAP the valves.
I was typing to fast and not thinking about what I was saying...
