Post Hydraulics help
I'm looking to get some information on a current build I'm doing. I want the ability to run 2 hyd motors. The motors that I'm currently looking at are reversible motors, 19.00 cu in, low speed high torque motors. here are the spec of the motors I'm inquiring about:

19.00 cu in
Psi - 1625 cont. / 1840 int.
Torque - 3575 cont. / 4470 int. (in lbs)
RPMs - 190 cont. / 235 int.
GPM - 15.8 cont. / 19.75 int.

My question is I was wondering if these motors or any other type of motor can be run in series. Being that they are reversible, I would plumb them so that one turns clockwise and the other counter clockwise.

If we can't run them in series, what would be the best option to do this. I was just trying to think of a way to have a less capacity pump run both at their designated specs.

Yes you can run in series depends on how fast you want the motors To turn if you want 190rpm and flow is 15.8. Adding another motor in series will decrease Rpms. Plus at 15 GPM you would have to have a 10-12 hp motor to turn the pump at 1600-1800psi

I am thinking about your circuit and understand that you want to plumb 2 motors together. But you said 1 would be CW and the other CCW. Why? If they are on the same rack they will bind. Remember flow= speed and Pressure =power.from pump The cubic inch in the motor determine speed and power. If you run in parallel then both motors will work together at same speed. Why can't you use one motor? I own a shop here in lake Charles and we do hydraulics. I just need more info to draw a circuit. To understand your application.

Also I don't know how much time the motors will be running but at 15 gpm@ 1800psi you will generate a lot of heat. What is the reservoir size and do you have coolers. Hydraulic fluid will start breaking down at 150f. Unless you are using a high price synthetic that is 68 dollars a gallon. We use phosphate ester in some systems and it's bad stuff. Just trying to help.

I'm making a small tranause. The cutters need to flow in opposite direction to correctly remove the material. The motors will be low to the water and will probably be splashed with water so not worried about heat. Basically a version of this:

Now I see where you going. You want to build a chop chop but on a smaller scale. I was trying to figure out how the hell you was going to put this on a surface drive. If you run the motors in series you will need a case drain and possibly a shuttle valve if you are not using a hydrostatic pump. There are a few pump types compensated and fixed displacement. If you need to talk to me my # 337-515-3877. You might even consider running a planetary on your cutter and a smaller motor.

Building a chop chop? Get ready to piss some money sway. They are worse than a mudboat to keep running.
