Anyone running a 60" wide Phowler with a PD?
Finally sold the old boat. I am getting ready to order a Phowler. With the amount of stuff we are known to carry, I have decided to go with at least a 52" wide boat, most likely an 18 footer.
I am just curious if anyone is running an 1860 Phowler with stock 36 PD or lightly modded PD (heads, carb, exhaust). If so, what kind of speeds are you getting?

Re: Anyone running a 60" wide Phowler with a PD?
if you can get back on the old site there is a review of a few rigs but I don't think they are on here yet.
I got a 2054 and will be getting a 20 or 1860 next.......I wish one of these east tx boys would put there stock 36 on my hull but I'm still wating......
I bet a 1860 would run the 27.7........LOL

Re: Anyone running a 60" wide Phowler with a PD?
I have an 1860 Phowler w/32 pd, It will do 26 with just me. With the blind on, 4 guys and gear, 5 doz. decoys 70 lbs. dog, I can get it up to about 13. A 36 might do a little better but the 32 was the biggest motor available when I bought it,but I'm happy. I can get my rig to places most guys dream about. The hull is rated at 1250 lbs.,.....sometimes we may be pushing that a little.

I would suggest you make sure your "flatbottom" boat is actually flat across the bottom, and not a custom tunnel hull. Also, hope you're intersted in the new "Flexhull" design concept that Phowler has put together.

Re: Anyone running a 60" wide Phowler with a PD?
It doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I could have told him they were junk before he bought one, but he didn't ask me. I just hate to see people buy boats because some dude can get on the internet and claim they're the " strongest johnboat on the market" or some crap like that. I'm pretty sure you can't be the "strongest" if you're runners are 10" on center. Can you honestly tell me making dozens of 1" deep cuts in the long runners is the strongest way to make a boat? and if PW is such an omniscient boat god, why did he sell Willy a boat and trailer with the boat hanging 12" off the end of the bunks?

Re: Anyone running a 60" wide Phowler with a PD?
Damon had an 1852 with the twins on it.
I gots an 1860. Its a 26-27 mph boat with a stock 36 and one guy, on the other hand, its a 22-23 mph boat with 4-5 guys a dog and gear. And that is why I run it. We typically hunt 4-5 guys in it all season. Just got the hard blind built on it (190 lbs - all AL) I will post a review once we get some open water again.

Balloon-knot, thanks for the feedback.
And cutt is right. I don't appreciate the jacking of a simple thread asking a simple question.
Crews, your feelings about these boats are well documented on other threads. I did not ask for them here.

Re: Anyone running a 60" wide Phowler with a PD?
Crews you are whinny little puke who cant keep his nose out of others buisness. Just shut up and move on with your life. If you have nothing better to do than bad mouth people and bitch about other peoples problems, here is an idea GET A FORKING LIFE or maybe a job. Find something else to ocupy your time. Just grow up and let this thing run its course with Paul and Willet. As I stated before it is not your boat, it was not your money, it is not your problem, so stay the f out of it!!!!!!!!!!!
And oh ya, you aint worth my time to find it to suck on it, its burried up willets ass.

Re: Anyone running a 60" wide Phowler with a PD?
Im running a phowler extreme 1860 with a stock 36. Its a great boat. No trouble with 3 guys and gear. I have run 24 mph with 4 guys(230 240 220 and 200) 120 decoys dead birds,, blind, grass and dog in the shallows. In current with deep water and wind it doesnt do so well with that load, maybe 18. But like I said with 3 guys and load she runs good in all conditions.
Also there is zero flex in the extreme design....ZERO

Come on now Sonny, as a Yankee you should realize your arguing with a Teenager and a Midget. There is no way your going to win. Now succumb to the Southern intellect. It isn't all that bad.
