what would happen if someone tried putting an outboard prop on a mud motor?

It would get destroyed. And it wouldn't work well being blown out.

Not a dumb question, someone with a Gen 3 PD with the spline shaft (7/8" x 13P) would be a good candidate for open water running. Of course, you'd have to be conscious of it and not run it into shit that will tear it up but might be a good open water fishing prop and I'm pretty sure I've seen an outboard back up before.
