 Re: Boat winch ideas
I changed this to a spud pole mount and have the same plug in the back of the boat. It is much more versital this way.
I also added a wireless remote which works great.

 Re: Boat winch ideas
May not be a good option, but how effective would a basic trailer winch be? With some good heavy duty cord and some Wheaties for breakfast I feel it would be an option. But Im usually wrong half the time.

 Re: Boat winch ideas
If you got one for a real heavy boat with enough gear reduction you'd be alright. You'd be a worn out SOB but you'd be unstuck. You could also just carry plenty of rope and a rope come-along. All you'd have to deal with is a couple hooks and you'd be in business. But also probably a tired 'mother. You can get them cheaper than this but they do work great. http://www.gemplers.com/product/125983/ ... ope-Puller

 Re: Boat winch ideas
I hunt a place where I access impountments from public water. When you pull up to the dike most people throw a canoe over and paddle in. That's what I've done for years. There is a couple guys who manage to get their mud boats over the dike and they can go way deeper into the cell a lot faster. I'm guessing a winch would be the easiest way. With some gator glide to assist.

 Re: Boat winch ideas
I know this is an older topic but I'm trying to plan out how to get a winch on my boat and I can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. I want to just chain the winch to my boat as needed to one of my hard points. I plan to have a trolling motor plug in both the front and back of the boat to supply power. My question is how to mount the solenoid. Do most of yall have it mounted on the plate behind the winch itself? Would I be better off just buying a "winch in a bag" from superwinch?
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Right on, don't have to worry about a dead battery or burning shit up.

 Re: Boat winch ideas
I know this is a old post, just showing my little 1436 off I lowered the orig front seat cut and welded it in with some bracing and plate under the winch to stop bending, added a new top deck ,works really well already winched out of flooded timber when I got wedged in between a couple trees, and once when I got stuck and float pod was buried in mud dam boat was suction cupped.

 Re: Boat winch ideas
I have a 2000# warn with synthetic cable on a plate with a 2" receiver mount that I need to weld up a boxed in mount for that I can tuck a light bar into. My concern is tearing the boat apart be not anchoring to enough surface area. Until then I'll just keep using rope and a stick to make a Spanish windlass until a handle snaps off and hits me.
