Someone close to my family was offered a very high paying position in the investment property branch of the U.A.E.'s Abu Dhabi . Not only will the pay be extraordinary but the perks are phenomenal....housing, personal staff, automobiles, flights to USA to visit family and friends, and it goes on and on. Also, the income would be considered "off shore" and only taxed in US at a 15% rate.

Geographically, Abu Dhabi is fairly insulated from the hot beds of the middle east, on the Arabian Sea and pinched in between Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman, none of which are ever in the news regarding terrorism, etc.

Anyone care to pm me details of their experiences there or in any of the U.A.E. territory?

I have friends who do business over there and tell me it awesome, like a Mid East Disney for adults. Everyone's got more money than they no what to do with and they still shit in the streets and act like monkeys. Their words not mine. The problem I see for your friend (assuming they are progresives) is they won't feel good about not paying more taxes so the no good, worthless sitting on their ass naggers can get free sh!t

My brother worked there for 10 years and loved it.
The only reason he left is,He is in aviation and they lost the contract.

Couple things I learned from Google research

1. with a wink and a nod you can purchase and drink alcohol.
2. There's a custom I will call "you got stroke". In other words if you have some you'll be fine in just about any situation, especially speeding tickets and the like. Americans have plenty of stroke credit when they arive and it gets better with who you know or work for.
3. Everyone has money and they piss it away like crazy. They pay well educated Americans really well.
4. Price of food is astronomical, especially meat. Almost everything is imported.

Was in Qatar for a 4 day RR leave from Iraq. Place isnt too bad. Went out into the public and it was pretty americanized but still had slums/third world country type stuff. Parking lots were loaded with 80-100k cars. It was a toasty warm climate too. If its hand over fist money and the guy is single. Id do it in a heartbeat.
