Last night I had to work late. I went through the Burger King drive through at just a few minutes after 10pm. While sitting at the window, I saw this guy, walking up behind my truck. I watched him come around to the passenger side about 6 feet away from the truck. I put my hand on my gun, in the waistband. He was looking through my windows again about 6 feet away from the truck. He turned and went in front, I removed the gun and clicked off the safety. I remember being very calm. I had my left hand on the steering wheel, and my weapon under the elbow. All was dark right there.

This idiot comes between the building and the truck having to turn sideways because I am close. He says "I do not mean any harm, I just want to get some food". When he was about 20 inches away hanging his head in the building window. I had the gun just below the door pointed at him and my left hand was on the door resting where my window would come up. He indeed had money in his hand and could barely turn back to me at that point. Then he talks to the dude in the window asking him if he can pay for some food. Finally the girl came up with my food. I just was amazed. I did not say anything, but if he would have made any move toward me, I would have lifted my weapon above the door part about 6 inches shot him clean in the head from about 18 inches away.

I had to tell the guy to hug the wall so that I would not hit him with my mirror. What an idiot. And this guy was about 35, dressed ok. But his actions invaded my space a bit more than usual. Thank God, I did not have to pull that trigger. But i would have to protect myself. At that point, my life was more important than his because of his actions. IDIOT.

Any you fellas, have to pull your weapon on someone?

Last time i was off, i was stopped at a stop sign and there was a guy walking on the side the road.
I was going to let him pass. It was 10 am. Pure daylight.
I kinda have a (Bad) habbit of keeping my wallet on my dashboard of my truck.

My windows were down, cause it was a beautiful day and i had just left my Aunts house where the kids were playing 300 yards away.

This fuckin idiot, comes up to my truck, with about an 8" knife that could have gutted me from the inside, out!
I didnt see the knife, until he leaned on my window seal and said, "how much money you got it that wallet" as he was waiving the knife close to me.

I grabbed my 9mm off the hip and cocked it and put it straight to his face.
I told him "todays your fukkin lucky day! You picked the wrong mother fuckker!"

When he saw i had that gun, he took off running into the woods.

My fiance wanted me to call the cops, but i had also pulled a gun on him, and thought i would hurt myself by doing so.

That same day, my fiance decided she wanted me to buy another pistol for her to keep in her car or purse.

So, not all bad came out of it, i got to buy a new pistol!

But it was serious, and scared me a little. All i remember doing was thinking to myself to remember everything about him. And to this day, i can still tell you what he was wearing, what he looked like, and all that!

Fiance' asked me if i would have actually shot him,
I told her i wouldnt even have thought about it.

Crazy the world we live in. But i am glad i have enough pistols to keep in my house and now in both of our vehicles.

I was as calm and as cool as could be until I left and stopped at the road and took about 3 deep breaths. LOL

Do you have liability and gun owners insurance? I have what ever is included in the NRA, and then I have a separate policy with Patriot.

Had a similar incident in Jackson, Ms when leaving a fast food joint after a rodeo about 20 yrs ago. Crackhead walked up wanting some $. I told him I didn't have anything for him and he kept coming and getting louder. I told him twice he was close enough a he kept walking. It's amazing how fast a person can stop when that dark hole at the end of your hand is staring at them. A stainless 357 is a lot like a magician I guess. It sure made him disappear quick. I probably made him think twice before walking up on the next guy in a Resistol and diesel truck. Voodoo I was the same afterwards, glad he turned around but was no doubt or hesitation in my mind.

Insurance is a great idea. I always like to air on the side of caution and a lot of those drive throughs are under video surveillance and if he would have reached in threatening your life it would be able to be verified

I had to show mine twice. Them jigs eyes get real big when they see a gun. I showed it because I wasn't in immediate danger. I just wanted them **** to leave me alone

One time this guy ran his boat over some land in the river behind my house and I pulled a gun on him.

Thread should be called "glad I didn't have to knock his teeth in". Surely you wouldn't pull the trigger with somebody on the other side of the window with no weapon. Now getting out and showing him where he stands on the totem pole is completely different. If you thought about drawing your gun before rolling your window up, you my sir are an idiot.

Last time I had to point a loaded weapon at someone- it was because he was tailgating me. That jerk!

Yep, you're lucky. You might be facing hundreds of thousands in legal fees now followed by being traded for cigarettes in Angola had you pulled that trigger..

Using lethal force should always be a last resort. Having said that there are circumstances that lethal force is necessary from the start. Any situation where one can retreat or leave that is the best course of action just walk away or drive off who gives a shit if your vehicle is an extension of your home or not. It sounds like if you were that uncomfortable with someone approaching your vehicle leaving the drive thru would prevent any further interaction with this person.

To add further if there is no retreat and no other way to avoid someone willing to harm you or someone else who is incapable of protecting themselves then ONLY then I see the right to defend yourself by any means necessary. I do understand that this can be argued all day long but this is what I believe. Owning and carrying a firearm for protection is one of the greatest life insurance policies but one must always think of what comes after if there is ever a need to use that firearm.

Voodoo. I think you did good. Given you were at a drive thru window and the proximity of your vehicle and the stores wall and vehicle behind you. The facts stated that he was acting suspicious by looking into your vehicle. That he had to wedge himself between your vehicle and the store wall (had to turn sideways). Also given the unknowns like after he was at the window you could no longer see the front of his body. Did he have a gun in his waistband, a knife in his hand you couldn't see. He had money in one hand, what about the other hand. The unknowns always get ya.

The fact that the average adult can cover 30 feet in 3 and this person was less than 2 feet from you.

Your situational awareness is great. You showed great restraint in not showing your weapon but keeping it at the ready. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

General rule of thumb. If you pull a gun out you better be damn certain you are going to use it.

To those of you with heroic stories. Every thought about rolling up your window and driving away? Because that's what the defense attorney is going to be asking you...There is no shame in running from trouble...

Personally, If I ever point a gun at somebody I am going to kill them with it and I wont stop shooting until the fear subsides or I run out of bullets... That's a fact and the only reason to point a gun at somebody. Never happened yet and I hope to god it never does.

Not sure about other states but brandishing a weapon will get you 5 years do not pass go! First offence and you’re history. We now have the “stand your ground” thing which I agree with but if you can get out you better. If they pursue you or you feel you can’t turn your back to flee “then” draw your weapon and drop them to save your or someone else’s life. You cannot pull your gun to win a conflict, you must be defending yourself and you must. Then prepare yourself for court date and pray you don’t get some pantywaist, anti gun judge!
