Post PD 36 on a Alweld?
Anyone running a PD or other mud motor on an Alweld? What kind of speeds can I expect on a 1852? Any advise on what would be the "best" non-mud motor boat (Alumacraft, Lowe, etc). I'd love to get a boat specifically made to go with the motor, but they are pretty much nonexistent in my neck of the woods.

I have a 36pd on a 16/48 weld-craft. I looked at all the hulls around the area and found that the weld-craft was the most solid hull i could find. It has been holding up for a couple of years now, and the only problem that i have is a few minor dents in the bottom. However, the transom thickness was a slight problem, it is 2 3/8" thick. Had to shim out the trim motor to get the engine on the boat.. All in all, the boat handles well and i see really good speeds out of the boat in deep water as well as on the mud..

I had 32 PD on 1650 express. I got about 25 mph with 2 people, and light gear. If I put 3 people in the boat then it wouldn't plane out. It would draw a huge wake, and would not go in very shallow water. I had the motor on the boat for about 3 years, and last year all of the welds on the top of the transom cracked. Express fixed the welds for free. I have sold that boat and going with a prodrive boat this time. If I wasn't going to carry much weight, then I would have probably stuck with the express longer.

Google - haul my boat - or - haul my toys

You will find that a boat can be shipped cheaper than you think....

This site is loaded with good dealer info...

Thanks for the info guys. I'll look into how much it would cost for shipping a boat, but I'm in AK so I'm guessing it would be a few bucks. I hate the idea of blowing nearly 4K on a boat I really dont want
