Maybe everyone knew this already but I just wanted to share.

For a while now I have heard rumors that PayPal is anti gun including parts for guns. I didn't take it to heart because I only randomly saw this in other forums and had not used them in a couple years. This being the case I did not do my research on the matter.

Last week I bought a product for my boat using PayPal (I was hesitant and should have called the company to purchase over the phone. My mistake). Because of this resent purchase I decided to do my research. Sure enough on their website under the section "PayPal Acceptable Use Policy" heading "Prohibited Activities" "(i) ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories".

I have read some random post of people not being able to use PayPal for gunsmiths, mags, etc. I realize they don't stop or track down all sales relating to this but I will not be apart of a company that inhibits the legal sale of firearms, services, and accessories, and in the future I will shy away from any business that uses PayPal even with other ways to pay.

I called PayPal this morning and closed my account (respectfully and politely) when asked I gave them the same reason I am telling you. I urge each person on this site that has an account to do the same and give the same reason.

I have way too much heart and passion in my hunting & shooting spots to give to companys that strive to inhibit them partially or fully.

I would have to guess the reason for that is to avoid any illegal firearm purchases by bypassing state laws. Its the same reason why Craigslist doesn't want firearms being sold. Not saying I agree with it but from a legal standpoint I think its a cover yer ass kinda thing.

PayPal is great. Instant purchase email notifications, and another level of security for your credit card and ban info.

Makes life much easier and ebay buys safer.

They offer a great product but where I draw the line is if they do not want to offer their product to a mom and pop gun shop all the way up to a big name ammo/firearm dealer/manufacturer then I want no part. I'm sure sites like guntrader & backpage do just fine with the legal side and combined they are not a fraction of the size of the named companies above. PayPal is not selling oxygen to survive simply a convenience service. they can be avoided.

The buyer would pay the FFL or private seller (who would ship through a FFL) direcly w/ instructions of which FFL to ship to. The buyer would then pick up the gun from the recieving FFL & pay his fee to recieve. Just like guntrader. Or travel to pick it up. No FFL required to ship ammo & most parts. I would want to advertise on big name sites. More business for the lil guy & private sellers.

Guntrader doesn't handle the funds for the transaction. They are not really in the middle of the actual sale.

I relize that. That's the ebay side of it. What I am saying is ebay would rather turn down the oppertunity to make more $$$ advertising the sale just to inhibit the sale of ammo & firearms. Just like paypal would RATHER forfit the oppertunity to make $$$ on Joe Blow in AL selling his SBE to John Doe in TX then to see it happen.

I paid for my Alien Gear holsters through PayPal. After waiting several weeks I called to see why my ordered hadn't shipped. I spoke with the main guy of the company and he told me PayPal had a hold on the funds but it showed the transaction to be completed on my end. I had to call PayPal and ask what was going on and they released the money acting like it was a simple accident. Called back and told the dude at Alien Gear that the funds were released and he told me that they had trouble with pp all the time doing this. He said he has also talked to other companies that manufacture accessories and that they experienced the same trouble. He felt that pp is an anti company. I use pp for some things but will never again for shooting or hunting related items.

Pp holds funds until the item is shipped and recieved unless its gifted or you are some kinda super seller

Here's an analogy. If all the credit card companies adopted PayPal's polices. I would cancel and go to cash, check, or cashiers check only for everything. I would rather keep my money away from at least huge anti companies. If it cost me a little more inconvenience so be it. And for an example the owner of Chick Fil A says he doesn't believe in gay marriage yet wont turn the gay's business away. I bet most of them stopped eating there. Yet Ebay and PayPal take it a step further with guns and this is our response???

All the funds for the shirts and stuff for the ride are on hold for 21 days. Unless i provide shipping confirmation that the items were delivered before the time expires.

Can u show me somewhere that they are funding anti-gun laws? I can understand them not wanting to be in the middle of a possibly illegal gun sale and understand why they wouldnt offer seller or buyer protection when doing so. If they are truly funding some anti-gun lobby, lets talk. If not...who fucking cares? Pay a different way or dont use them at all. Suit yourself.

For me, it makes buying and selling a shitload of items safer. Not a much safer way out there to do a cc or bank transaction with someone you dont know...

Did u boycott walmart? They took guns out of most of their stores and limit purchases on ammo..

Does you or anyone u know use progressive insurance? They back some of the biggest anti-gun lobyists in the game...

Do you watch tv? The msm is controlled by liberals who actually want to take your guns from u not just not protect your purchase if you fund through them. If you watch anything other than the sportsmans or hunting channel, you're a hypocrit.

And fyi, i've purchased guns using paypal and never had an issue. I didnt have the buyer protection offered in 99% of the purchases i make, but i still did it whether they liked it or not.

I don't know the people who run PayPal personally, but I'd venture a guess that it's simply a liability issue. They could raise their percentage a little bit on transactions across the board to pay for higher liability insurance premiums, raise the percentage a lot for firearms-related purchases only, or keep their percentage the same and just cut out firearms-related transactions.

Same issue with EBay.

So if you want to blame people, blame the attorneys. (I can't even blame them; I'd prefer to blame greedy plaintiffs.)

You have to do what you can is about the best I can say. No I can't show where they gave big money to gun laws. Like I said in previous post they offer a great service I just don't like that they don't offer that same service to "legal" gun dealers. I would want that same buyer seller protection if I owned a gun shop. And yes a lot of times you are backed in a corner dealing with a company who has ethics or policies you don't agree with, but in the cases where an option is there that's the one I'm going with.

I just don't think it's as much about being "anti" as it is about the stuff tgunn posted...it's just legal bs they don't want to deal with. Same reason why no cig, alcohol, ecig, drugs, and many other items they prohibit. It's a liability thing.

You may or may not know this but lots of Internet sites use PayPal check out for quick guest checkouts. Where you go to a site and don't register, place items in your cart, and tap guest check out. You put in your credit card info and bam your checked out and it never says that they used PayPal. I had my card info stolen while out in Texas and someone used it to buy items on an Internet site that had a guest checkout option. Items were to be shipped from a overseas location to a separate overseas location. Because my CC was on a PayPal account within minutes of the transaction I had an email from PayPal asking if I had made a purchase with a number to call if I didn't. I called the number and stopped the purchase and was not out any money. I feel that the security offered out ways the risk of not using.

Most of it was simply from some research and not a lot of interaction. My concern was simply that is was one more company getting a piece and stacking it against me. The more I'm reading the more sense it's making between liability and the company being bases out of CA. As hard as it is I will admit I jumped the gun. But I guess it's all apart of these forums.

I agree we should all likely do more to not give funds to those who use them against us. Unfortunately most of us unknowingly do this every day. I think this case has more to do with liability shit, than "anti" shit, but more than likely the owners of ebay and paypal are liberal scum and at the end of the day....use our money against us anyway.

Oh I was just suggesting that you have a lot of pent up frustration and hostility and emotions in general, and that you need to get it all out. Not referring to the paypal issue specifically.

there was an article about how amazon won't sell some 3D printers b/c they can be used to create untraceable gun components, you should call them out as well.

Suntrust bank ( I think just a florida bank) has decline to do business with gun dealers so I hear. Not sure what the reason is for that but I haven't heard them, Amazon or paypal spout out any anti-gun garbage. I've alway said some people (democrats) shouldn't own guns. I think if you push an anti gun agenda it should be illegal for you or your body gaurd to own a gun. I also believe that if a business doesn't want to do business concerning guns or bake a fag a cake they shouldn't have to, it's America. If someone is really pushing an anti gun agenda I would boycott them but not for simply choosing not to be involved.

est 1998 changed policy in 2009/10. Said earlier in post new to me because I haven't used it in a # of years.

NO, I like Paypal and have used it to purchase firearm and weapon related items with no issue. Great security.

They just be protecting that ass in case you do something stupid.

I could bet you $100 that my boat is faster than yours, and you could pay me through Paypal, however, that is against their policy also due to "gambling"
