The educational requirements for associates are a master's degree in financial administration along with the basic bachelor's degree. Fresh M.B.A. graduates can join as associates. For first year associates, the salary figures can be in the range of $150-350K, and for third year associates, $250-500K. For the first year, the bonuses are usually in the range of 10-50% of base, but after a couple of years, they can grow, and can be up to 300% of base.

The trade off: 100 hour work weeks, you need to be in major finance city like New York, etc. and you must have prestigious MBA pedigree.

My brother's in that business. Hardly a prestigious MBA pedigree, he has an engineering degree. He makes some real money but I don't envy that life at all. At the office from 9am to 1-2am 7 days a week, and an all-nighter every week or so... No thanks.

The MBA - Investment Banker - Ivy League- Goldman Sachs- Federal Reserve - Wall Street types are the ones that screwed our country in 2008-2010 .

Our economy is reaping the results of their greed.
