It would be to easy. You can get close enough to grab the leader hanging out of the mouths of some that people broke off. I don't recommend that unless wearing thick glove and have a great breathhold.

I hooked one last year at night there on light tuna gear that is still taking drag and embarrassing me.

My 12 year old had a monster on yesterday. He set the hook on the Calcutta 250 with a carbon fiber drag locked down and he never budged the fish. It just took off to the nearest dock and broke him off.

We snorkled the Stuart rocks a few weeks ago and they were stacked up, but not like that. Like you said, you can almost touch the fish but throw anything around them and they aint touching it.
