Post Best a/t tire
Well my pro comp mt2 have almost had it and I'm needing some new 33 inch tires for my Sierra. Really needing an at with good tread life because I tow my bass boat 10-15,000 miles a year on the interstate fishing tournaments. I've worked in a tire shop before and know what brands are good but I was hoping someone could give me some actual reviews on tread life and road noise for whatever yall use. I don't mind dropping 1200 for tires but please don't tell me your so and so tire is good if it only last 35-40,000 miles or if you don't drive interstate a lot..

If you're into actual function and not looks. I'm currently rolling on Yokohama Geolandar AT/S'. I have 23K miles on them and I suspect them to easily surpass the 50K warranty. They're really quiet, cheap, ride smooth, balance with almost nothing. EXCELLENT wet road traction. AWESOME in sand and I have put them through everything the SE offers including slippery wet red clay. A blip of the throttle and they clean very well in the sticky muck and have surprised me many times. And you can try them out for 30 days money back guarantee.

Are the new at/2 any louder? I have friends that owned the original at but I heard the new ones are louder on the road! And after owning those pro comps I will never own another loud tire lol

And Will that's actually not a bad looking tire.. I'll have to look into those!

At close to 280K miles on my '06 2500 Crew, the Toyo Open Country A/T's have been the only tire worthy of a repeat performance. Gotten the best tread life out of the last set and bought the second set.

I got BFG 285 A/T's that have 65,000 miles on them and have plenty of life left. This is my second set. I'll be getting the now KO2's when these go out

Post Re: Best a/t tire
There's only one tire I ever purchased more than once and thats a straight up old fashion Ground Hawg mud tire for the hunting trucks. As for all of the rest, I try a different tire every time, I dont know why, I just like trying different ones and learning from each. I know one thing, you cannot give me another set of either a Nitto Terra grapplers or a BFG AT 1 or 2 (period)... The Nitto's wet traction went to shit after 10K miles. Was like having steel tires on wet pavement. The BFG's sucked in every aspect other than dry asphalt. One tire that's not a dedicated all terrain that will surprise you off road is a Michelin LTX, looks like a street tire and you'll get 80K miles but somehow work offroad.

I'll still stick with the Yoko's as the updated favorite though... hard to beat.

I dont mall crawl neither... all my stuff gets worked, Mizzippis are on dedicated work trucks, thats a statement as well but I've never gotten past the price of a Toyo and the fact all of the high school kids around here run them.

Toyos is all that I run. I always buy the m/t but I can't imagine the at 2 not having the same quality.

I'll probably end up going with the Toyos. I used to run 35 inch nitto trail grapplers on my old truck and did a lot of burnouts with it and they still lasted a really long time and I liked them but I don't need a mud tire. And it's really hard to beat a 65,000 mile tread warranty

Back in the early 90's, I used to get unbelievable miles out of BFG A/T's. Ran a set on this truck after the factory Michelins wore thinking they were still my go-to tire. I was completely disappointed.

Good year wrangler duratrac have been really good for me. I run 33" and they're awesome. They dig and clean out well. Have a slight hum to them. Mpg is terrible but they seem to wear good. Have probably 20k on then and I can't really tell a difference from when I bought them

I run the new Toyo R/T with 40,000 mile warranty. They are between the A/T and M/T. There is a little road noise but it is still pretty good tread for not being a mud tire. Have any question let me know.

Blue, are you running the "p" size of the "Lt" size? According to the website the p has a taller tread for off-road and has a 65k warranty and the LT has the stiffer tread and 10 ply sidewall for towing but only has a 50k warranty which doesn't make sense..

LT, 10 ply, load range E.

Didn't know there was any difference. May still have the receipt laying around for the last set. I'll see what it says if I can find it.

TooTall, before you purchase, price the Toyos and the Yoko's. I bet there's a $500+ savings on the set of Yokos compared to the Toyos... not that it matters to me how you spend your money

Found where I bought the last set in Feb '13...which would have been in the 210-215K mile range looking at my oil change history.. I easily had 60-65K on that set. They were the same LT tire, though.

I do like the looks of the Toyo RTs and know a fella running them at the moment. I'm keeping a close eye on them. He says, right now, they are just as quite as the AT's. I ran the Duratracs cousin tire (Fierce MT) and they were awesome, just not HD enough for my truck. Had to have them pumped to the max all the time. The Toyo RT's remind me of them, should be a great "all around" tire...

Wrangler dura trac. I had them on a Tundra Crewmax and got 75K miles out them. They are an AT but look like an MT. They are not as loud as the BFG AT's. They are E rated and made for utility trucks to get in and out of yards but still drive good on the road. I just bought another set for the new Crewmax.

Take it for what its worth. I worked in the auto accessories and tire business for a while the past few years. We sold mostly Toyo AT2', and Nitto Terra Grapplers for the AT tires. Mainly the Toyo's. I personally run Toyo on my truck and I purposely did not balance them and I cannot tell a difference. A quality tire cost money but its longer life and better ride will be the benefits.

Toyo (toyo & Nitto are of the same family)
nitto
Mickey Thompson (cooper tires)

Frog, yes. Bought them online. Tread Depot, $636 with free shipping to the door, $20 each to balance and install, locally. LT245/75R16's on stock wheels.
