Well my right knew blew out on me , Doc thinks its mabey an acl and or meniscus.Looks like surgerys coming, but not soon enough! im ready to take an axe to it dam knees been locked up for three weeks. Anyone have this before. I feel like im in prison in my own house two boats calling me name and can't walk for chit.

Yes. And yes it sucks, luckily for you acl replacement is a much easier surgery to recover from now than it was 18 years ago when I had mine. They will take some tissue from your hamstring or butt to make a new acl. When I had mine they took it from the patellar tendon in my knee which made my knee hurt worse for longer. It was about 6 months to full recovery, these days it's considerably shorter amount of time. Good luck with it

Dam so it looks like its gonna be a real pain in the ass.

My sister had ACL surgery about 5-6 years ago and they have her the ACL from a dead person.

Dead mans acl , hope he was a young buck , in stead of some 90 year old man. Im over this mess , my summer gonna suck now. Hope it goes by quick , never thought id want to go back to work so bad as I do now.

I had ACL surgery two years ago and they used a cadaver(dead guys tendon). It wasn't a horrible recovery. The first 3 days sucked as far as pain but it was more uncomfort from the brace than anything. The leg exercise machine sucked a fat one as well. Laying on your back for an hour 2-3 times a day while it worked your knee in motion.

If it makes you feel better, three weeks after the surgery I was hunting gators.

I don't care about the pain , its what it is. But three weeks and your huntin gators that's good to hear.

Fishing ive all ready tried that and my wife bout killed me. Ya I wish I was 24 again, I don't seem to heal as fast as I did when I was younger.

If you live in Texas I can tell you that Dr Lowe in Houston is jam up. He operated on my son's knee and did an excellent job. Dr Lowe is also the Houston rockets and the texans doc.

Honestly the worst part about the whole surgery was the nerve blocks they put in your leg. I wiggled my toes for an entire day and them bitches never moved

I've had acl and miniscus surgery but I used my own tendon the patella tendon and it was absolutely the worst pain I ever felt in my life but i have never had an issue with it. I told the doc keep the pills flowing it was about a 3 month recovery for me. No dead guy parts here That was just to weird to me... Use lots of ice

I did, but for a different issue--I had a hole through my cartilage and into my Tibia bone. They had to to a micro fracture technique where they drilled a bunch of small holes into the large hole to stimulate new bone growth. The scar tissue was supposed to act as a pseudo-cartilage.

Anyway, hurt like a bastard when the morphine they injected in there wore off!!!! So, 8 weeks of crutches followed by months of physical therapy later I could walk without a limp.

Totally different procedure than what you're getting though...

ACL replaced 11 weeks ago. Had a choice to use a dead guy parts or my own hamstring. No choice for me. I went for quality time tested parts; my own. Brace for first few weeks, but off crutchs within two weeks. Sch to be able to jog at 12 weeks. I didn't get offered the knee bender machine, but wish I would have. Knee bending was slow for me, but very strong and stable.

Can't do side to side motion or sports for 6 months, If you want to a avoid damage. I'll be backpack elk hunting on It at 9 months (100 lb pack loads in mountains...)

Best advice, make about 4 - 1 gallon ice bags made with 1/2 water and 1/2 green rubbing alcohol . They are frozen but slushy. Ice it after exercise every time for first month. Swelling is most common issue .

Just looked up the total "Billed" cost of my ACL repair.

What for it.....

$60,000. Of which the 1 hr in the surgery center was $35000. Of course Cigna nocks it down with discounted rates by 50%. I have already paid 4Gs out of pocket and billed $7000 by surgey center for things Cigna says it won't cover. I'm only 2Gs from my out of pocket maximum of 6Gs. The surprise is my out of pocket max only counts for covered expenses. If Cigna seems the expenses, not covered, then it up to me to not pay of fight the bills.

Well after what seems like a long ass time and pretty much a summer gone I might be able to go back to work in a week or so. One more Doc appointment and I hope he releases me to go back to work. Leg feel real strong but I can still feel some shit in that knee joint,will see. 6 months at the house sucks.

At 7 months, my is a good as new. But my balance and speed is still a little off for sports .

Yeah, getting old sucks. My Doctor told me " at your age, You don't really have to fix your knees, you can just stop elk hunting , backpacking, tennis and skiing. And wear a brace for mild activities. "

F that. I plan to keep elk hunting in backcontry till I die on the trail with my boots on. I may drop tennis, but it forces me to stay active in hunting off season.

Had a scope done on my knee 23 june. Was one a crutch for a week, a cane for another 5 days, then back to ambling along pretty good. I'm limp free now. Still some surgical pain and some use pain, but nothing much compared to before the repair. Literally woke up from surgery, let the anesthesia wear off completely, didn't take a pain med out of need until I got bitched at by the wife AND the doctor for not taking any. It felt so much better after than before I didn't need any pain meds.

A scope is quick and easy. Not even a stitch . Just a few small holes. When you start cutting up spare parts to make a new ACL, it takes time to heal that and recover.

25 years old had second one reconstruction last year. 9 months of recovery time and will never be better than85% of original. Doc says I'll probably have a replacement by 30 definitely before 40..... THANKS A LOT OBAMA
