I had issues with mine and got a new one, it's not a speed demon and your boat is Bigger and heavier than my 1754 xseries. I have a twin bladed prop but PD is working on a new prop design that should be available soon and help with the speed. Mine will do 27/28 occasionally but with two people dog and loaded cooler I'm at 25/26, with three big dudes I'm down at around what feels like 21 or so, haven't checked with that load so speed is speculation.

Gas tank up front, how many gallons. Sounds like it's plowing a little to me. Regardless, the best that combo will probably do is 24. Need more power and still it'll never be a 30mph combo with the 3rd Gen PD. Need mods and the higher head ratio. Or just put a Yamaha on the back. I've been in a couple of those Gator "flats" and they take some stones to get them going. Heavy boat with the decking and all.

Yea I think he might go with the new gear ratio lower unit when they come available.. And possibly some head work for the time being!

I'll trade boats with you but you can keep the PD and I'll keep my GTR!

Re: 37EFI PD on Gator Trax 18x54 SLOW!!!!!!!!!
Had a similar issue with mine 1650hd with 36pd gen2. When you motor is level and you rotate to reverse does the cab plate hit the transom? My transom was about a 1/2" high. I had kp shave the transom down and I went from 21 to 24 mph with the big difference being hole shot.
I then had calen put a stage 1 kit heads, cam, tuned stock carb and was up to 27-28 mph deep water. Hole shot was perfect. Then I lost my mind a few months ago and put pd Eli kit on it. 29-30 mph with perfect idle.
The other thing to try is moving weight towards the back of the boat. I fish and hunt with mine and lose about 2-3 mph when I put battery and trolling motor on the front.
The boats are heavy no doubt and will never be speed demons but I'd be hard pressed to sell mine. If I had to do it again I'd do pd Eric heads, cam, and bps q exhaust.
