Post hex adapter for threaded shafts
Is there such an animal?? I know Bblades propellers does this for their Longtail props to make changing them easier. I know 9 chances out of 10 I'll end up back with a factory GD prop, but I'd like to try some others down the road... Who knows...

Thats a really good idea. If someone had an old useless hex prop, I bet I could have the adapter made for next to nothing...

If you could get your hands on a burnt up threaded prop and a good hex prop you'd be in business...

If I'm not mistaken....just shooting from the hip without measuring anything...this would be an awesome idea...cept, I think the threaded PD shaft is 7/8" thread and the hex is a 3/4" hex on the MB and GT hex shafts.....I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

10-4... The GD shaft is 7/8 too. Someone needs to measure the ID of the GT/MB hex. Or the OD of their shaft (the one on their boat motor) if they have a prop off by chance.

Or they can just start cutting the hex prop hubs and threading 7/8-9. I have hill props and a threaded shaft. Never put on a hexed shaft tho.

I've seen those props that are threaded inside a hex cutout and I can't say I trust them... Doesn't look like there's much material there to thread into. I can just imagine hitting something and either stripping the threads on the shaft or inside the prop one. Just doesn't look like a solid enough contact area for the threads to take that much stress.

I've nailed stumps and haven't had an issue. I like the adapter idea better. Hill sucks. Took him 3 times to get me the prop I originally asked for correct. It's been a dang good prop tho

I'm going to pull the bearing rings and races off my old shaft and see how the gear is attached. If it's just pressed in with a keyway, I'm about to go outside the box! I'm sick of dealing with these threaded props!

I've got a shaft sitting on my workbench now with gears and bearings attached. If y'all need any pics or measurements, let me know.

How is the gear and bearing held in place? And yes pics would be great!

It seems like there has to be a key way in it but I don't see it right off. Looks like it's just pressed on but that wouldn't make sense. I'll give it a going over tomorrow and take some pics. I'd really like to get another shaft made and keep the bearings, gear, and sleeves that I have now that aren't hurt.

I would have thought the gear rod on splines with a retainer...
