How do y'all feel about this? Personally, since hogs are so much of a problem, I do not have a problem with this. But if I owned that tour, I might would make sure that everyone knows what they are going to see before they go on it. So many people on these tours have never been outside in their yard much less in the wild outdoors. I would not want to upset anyone.

Plus, the alligator is not scared of humans anymore because they feed them. If someone falls out of a boat, instead of the alligator being a little bit wary, he is going to go right after person.

If the people were made aware of what they were about to see I don't see a problem with it. Most definitely with the hog population issue. I think the main thing people would have a problem with is listening to the hog after he gets nailed. That sound is pretty terrible if you're not used to it lol

I also think the tour was a little close for comfort. If both species are that comfortable with humans it would take nothing for something to go bad wrong there.

Nuisance species or not...that guy is sick in the head to do some shit like that. I liken that to the guy who ran over the baby ducks with his zero turn.

It ain't nothing that doesn't happen naturally. The gator eats and gets rid of an invasive species. Is it any different than feeding mice to a pet snake?

I hunt and respect what I kill. I hunt pigs, but with clean kills. Nothing about this is humane or sportsman.

Just some sick guides giving sick people what they pay for. No true hunter would ever go on with this guide. If you want to feed them nuisance pigs, fine then shoot/kill them first, then hang them for bait.

I would have 0 problem with this if he shot the hog and fed it to the gator. Hell I'd be more than okay with it as long as it was a quick clean kill. People that do that just for the thrill factor of watching a live animal get eaten are sick. Yeah it happens in nature but still baiting that hog to its death is completely cruel. And as said before with those animals being fine with humans that close it's asking for trouble. If you fell out the hogs would rip you to shreds or the gator would eat before you got wet. Just doesn't look like a good situation for any of it.

2 main things wrong with this. 1 you've made the alligators / hogs associate people with a food source, which is the worst possible thing you can do for a apex predator. 2 you've now shown this others who will now replicate and give to alligator tourism a bad name.

Each his own. Pigs are much closer to dogs then bait fish. Then again, I have traveled to parts I the world where you can order dog for dinner. Just a matter for local culture. I can see some local cultures where dog fighting is seen as sport, but it is a very small group. Given exposure to public light, strange how quickly those cultures change.

As an x trapper ( just to lazy now, not against it), I would say legs holds are cruel, snares are usually a fairly quick death ( minutes and the animal doesn't appraoch fear until the last minute it can't breath), and conabear traps are usually instant death or at least sudden choking. I moved away from leg holds as I contined to trap more.

I was always raised to respect what I killed. God made us rule over the animals and a good ruler doesn't just slaughter animals for the fun of it. This is stupid and is going to come back and bite all of us in the ass because some liberal idiot is going to get a hold of it and put that it was hunters that did it and then there we are. Whether it was a hunter or not the media will portray it that way. I don't have a problem with mass killings of feral hogs, they are a nuisance and need to be thinned out. But this is stupid. An alligator is an apex predator that catches his own food and routinely feeding it will disturbe the natural order of how things work. Every time that gator sees a boat and people it will automatically come to it thinking it will get food so it will quit hunting and get lazy. Kind of like the people in the Wellfare line. I personally don't like it and think it's cruel, but at the same time I am not going to lose sleep over it. It is a nuisance animal but they could've easily shot them and donated the meat somewhere. I'm sure the people that are starving locally would love this video. And before someone says something about that last sentence I USE the meat I kill I do not waste.

you guys who are ok with this style of guiding will have a totally different opinion when hunters in the area start having large gators stalking their boats/land blinds during the season with their kids and dogs with them. it happens enough as it is, alligators don't go into hibernation here until well into the main duck season, just doesn't get cold enough. so i don't need some asshole teaching this predator that myself and my loved ones are a potentially easy meal. Id raise hell if i found out this was happening near my land.

we do have a boar problem but we also have a alligator problem down here. on the 7 mile boat ride to our property i can count over 40 alligators.

one thing is for sure though, I've never had boar eat my dog.

Well it would have been cool to see the hog get eatin by the gator in a natural setting, not being lured off the bank by food that was thrown to it.I don't really have a problem with the video , but it was a set up , and that's fuck up.

I will agree with those that have the opinion that feeding alligators is wrong. They are safe on those tour boats. But we are more prone to be in the water in some way either by choice or not by choice.

But, for some reason I just do not have any problem with the idea that they let a gator eat a hog alive. Not good that they baited the gator into the area and the pig into the area. I would like to see this in pure nature.

But how do you all feel about the state of Louisiana coming up with poison where they eat it and just fall where they are by the hundreds to just rot away?
