 Pitch, cup....or both
Thinking about getting my prop worked after my little episode getting stuck this weekend. I'm running a PT1210 two blade on a GT31 w/o reverse, totally stock on a 1648 Alumacraft jon. The marsh I'm running has a hard bottom, grass, some lillies and the water is now barely ankle deep. I'm thinking if I had a little more cup or pitch I may have been able to muscle out of it. I was digging good and bouncing off the rev limiter at 4400, but just couldn't get moving. Granted, I was loaded down pretty heavy with lumber, tools and my brother and don't know if either cup or pitch would have helped out much.
Constructive thoughts please.

Your motor probably won't turn more without some mods. That stock prop is hard to beat. I wouldn't waste your money experimenting with props.

 Re: Pitch, cup....or both
Thanks for the input so far, hopefully I get more info to weigh a good decision on. One in favor, one against....still at square one. At this point I'm inclined to talk to the guys at Coastal to see what they say. I hear they're pretty good.

 Re: Pitch, cup....or both
While y'all talkin about props I just did the 55 upgrade to my Sport V. I'm running 30mph with me and roughly 300lbs of kids, colors and BS. At 30mph I'm turning 4300rpm. At 4700rpm I'm still running 30mph. I'm running a 12 1/4 or 1/2 big blade that's fairly new. Any ideas?

 Re: Pitch, cup....or both
Chenier-Id say you need to add cupping. The cup is what gives you low speed digging and planing ability. For your situation Id add cup. If the engine is turning what you want up top then the pitch is probably right. The cup will affect the rpm but not as much as pitch. All really depends on who does it, how much, etc... Run it over to coastal and let them have a stab at it. They have always done me right.

My opinion is any good prop guy can get some more life outta ya prop. Bring it to one, they can give you results not an online diagnosis.

I'm thinking a little cup will help. Not too worried about speed and it's always had a good plane. Just need a little more grunt.

Stock motor, stock prop. Anyhting more will lug your engine. Also being a 2010 you have the older 45T lower pulley and the short stroke motor so your already in a bad position for mechanical advantage.

 Re: Pitch, cup....or both
How does it do in shallow water with soft bottom? You said water barely ankle deep and hard bottom. If you don't have enough water/soft mud for the prop to bite it don't matter what prop you have.

 Re: Pitch, cup....or both
I've run it across soft mud with less water in the Mermentau river over a couple hundred yards, but I had a running start and didnt stop to find out what it would do from a stand still (my first time mudding it, and I was alone). It barely slowed down. Where we hunt is a very hard sandy mud.
From what I'm understanding from you Max, I'm better off leaving well enough alone with my prop....at least until I wear it down some, anyway.

Anyone have Costal's phone number? Or any other good prop places, I am going to mail mine since I'm in FL.
