Well, tyler, to say nothing about the electric clutch on a tiller that gt doesn't want to release for whatever reason, the hdr has something on the end of the crank or extended shaft that takes some of the stress of adding more weight to it that also serves the purpose of helping keep vibration in check because it prevents the shaft from whipping around. It's not groundbreaking, but not possible with the gtr since they insist on using plastic reverse covers. So all those people that don't like the extra vibration on a gtr get no attempt from gt at correcting one of the likely sources of vibration that they could do something about if they cared.

Just an observation from a FPR standpoint, that HDR reverse is much more impressive than the GT reverse. That thing was backing up at low RPM's better than a GTR at high RPM's. Seemed to have much more pull than the GT.

Could just be the prop design? Longer outdrive? Different cav plate vs reverse plate? I dunno....just a non-biased opinion.

Not bashing at all...just an observation. I'd be glad to see a video that would prove me wrong....one that would show a GT with that much pull in reverse with so little RPM's.

blue ill bet my boat that my gtr will back up just as hard or harder than that mud buddy with gtr reverse. and gtr doesnt vibrate at all with a 3 blade and with a balanced two blade it will not vibrate either. and the cast lower unit and rubber bushings in the handle was added to the newer modles to help with that.

I have no dog in the reverse fight but for whatever reason the HDR does seem to do the same amount of work with less effort... Haven't seen one in person but according to several videos it seems to do great. Me personally, I'll keep my push pole reverse. Less shit to break

Aren't there a ton of GT guys running MB props? You would think that would make the prop variable null.

Any more updates on this? Could anyone compare this motor to the GTR 37efi or even the MB 37efi HDR?

Not bad at all. Any idea how heavy that F86 is? Did you get to try out the reverse?

not sure about the weight. the reverse works great, just as good as my outboard but with a lot more torque.

I've been running my boat pretty hard. Best speeds I've seen so far is right at 29.5 with 2 guys and a cooler. Its a prodigy elite that's pretty decked out. Only have the cranking battery installed at this point. I took 4 guys guns, gear and dog to our blind this past weekend. On the way out I got to 23. On the way in a lot of the guys were up on the bow and most of our gear was up there. It struggled to get fully on plane and was pushing water...probably only ran about 15-20. It's a real short ride so I didn't try to make adjustments with the load. Overall I'm happy with it. I will say at first I was concerned about the sliding...but with a load the boat turns much much easier. Still need a ton more stick time.

As for reverse......I'm not sure what more anyone could ask for....honestly...throw a switch trim it down a bit and go. In deep water I could submerge the transom at about half throttle. I used it to reverse off a dry bank I got stuck on as well. As soon as I got some bite in the mud it pulled me right off.

Need a lot more time to see what breaks on it but I hit a submerged rockpile pretty good...dinged up the prop a little bit but no damage. So far so good.
