SE vs SW la duck leases
Well I am really wanting to get into a lease after I graduate college and finish law school which should be another 4 years. I know I want a lease down south and where ever I get one I will have a camp there. I know I'm getting started early but I understand most good leases have a 5 year or more wait time so I figured If i got on a waiting list now or in a year or so by the time I graduated I could get it. Anyways, what are the differences between the two ends of the state hunting wise and is one really "better" than the other? I don't have a lot of experience in the marsh so any information or things you wish you'd have done differently would be helpful. I would be okay with a lease anywhere between Cameron and chauvin/golden meadows area, not really looking for anything all the way down in Venice. Price isn't too big of a concern as much as a good area that holds lots of birds. Distance from my house isn't a huge concern because I want a camp wherever I get one. Please don't let this get turned into a pissing match either I'm just asking for helpful advise and experiences from people who have hunted both ends..
Sorry Posted in the wrong forum. Mods if you could move it to hunting and fishing one I'd appreciate it..

Re: SE vs SW la duck leases
Pretty hard to beat a lease central or western part of the state. All I've ever hunted is eastern and our salt marsh just doesn't hold birds like it used to. The marsh is eroding faster than ever which has driven prices on my end to just about un-affordable. Freshwater is a whole different ball game and in my opinion much more fun to hunt

Re: SE vs SW la duck leases
We have a couple hundred acres in sw LA and do decent. Just like anything else gotta be where the birds want to be. I'd take having our land or a lease and having a decent season than hunt on public and deal with dumbass every morning. Have a camp to stay at is just icing on the cake. I cant speak for SE La as I've never hunted there.

Re: SE vs SW la duck leases
Yeah that's one reason I want a lease is so I don't have to deal with idiots every morning. I'd really like one in in the central part of the state the most for convenience but I will go wherever is good. I thought about maybe either Gueydan or Kaplan but I think I want to be in the marsh and not agriculture fields so that way I can fish too. I just don't really know how to go about finding the better leases since it's such a large area. And I want to get on a good one because if I'm going to pay money I at least want to be able to shoot a good many ducks. Price doesn't really matter..
