Post Quitting Dipping
I'm looking at trying hooch or smokey mountain as an alternative. Anybody tried these and have any opinions? I dip just about anything, but grizzly green has been my go to. Would like something comparable. I'd quit cold turkey, but I'm used to having a lip snack when I'm coaching, hunting, fishing, driving, and after a meal. I tried bacc off once and it did nothing. Thanks

Pick up drinking or smoking or something. Lol but seriously it's hard to quit I know what you mean about just wanting to have something in that feels like a dip. I just did sunflower seeds for a little while to constantly have something I had to chew and spit on till I got used to not having a dip in. Never tried any of that herbal or alternative stuff so I can't comment on that part but the sunflowers worked for me..

I quit over ten years ago cold turkey. When I put in a pinch of cope and it did not hit the spot I threw the can in the trash and never looked back. Just smell someone's spit cup and you will curb your dipping desires. Now when I smell a coworkers breath I am reassured I made the best decision of stopping.

I tried this stuff called "cowboy coffee chew". It's basically coffee grounds held together with honey. But that's what it feels like in ur lip. Tastes good but falls apart quickly in ya mouth. Only kind I tried. I only dip a few times a day so a tin lasts me 4-5 days. Cope xlc natural is my edd.

I quit years ago with sunflower seeds... It's rough for the first week or so but after that it got easier for me.

-good luck with it!

I quit 5 times cold turkey already for months at a time. That was not the hard part. The hard part is not telling yourself every once in a while won't hurt. Either you quit forever or not at all. There's no middle of the road.

That grizzly has had me hooked for 15 years. If I would just quit I would save 240 bucks a month. Sunflower seeds do help though

I had to have the nicotine or else I would turn into a raging asshole. I used nicotine lozenges for that. I did buy a roll of smokey mountain, made it through about 5 cans before I felt like I didn't need it. Used sunflower seeds while watching football games, hunting etc. Drink lots of water. First week is a bitch, gets easier every day though. I really only used smokey mountain while driving and mowing the lawn. Been dip free for a year and a half, dipped a can a day for 10 years. As another poster mentioned, once you quit that's it. Can't dip just when you drink, hunt, only one a day, every now and then etc. Gotta tell yourself your done. Not a day goes by I don't miss that stuff, loved it. Happy to have broke that habit though. Good luck man, it's possible.

Kinda like quitting smoking. I've quit so many times and made it through the tough part every time. Gone months even. I always start back up.

Lozenges worked great for me, just pop one in your lip and leave it until it's gone. Been 4 months yesterday and have just about winged myself off them

I also quit cold turkey just over 10 years ago. You just need to want to quit bad enough. Dont start another habit to replace the one you are trying to break. Put it down and walk away.

You gotta make your mind up and stick to it. I kept telling myself I wouldn't gonna let Copenhagen control me. It's been 6 years since I quit cold turkey and I'm sure glad I did.

Best way to quit is to get sick.

I was sick as a dog in March for about 4 days, and couldn't keep a glass of sprite down much less take a dip. Never started back dipping after I got better, and haven't had one since. Dipped for probably 10-11 years.

A guy I work with caught the flu real bad one time and was laid up in the hospital for a couple weeks. Came out and hadn't dipped since, and that was a couple of years ago. And he had been dipping for probably ~35 years if I had to guess.

Apparently getting sick on the verge of death is the ticket.

Eat a whole can and wash it down with a pint of vodka. You're guaranteed to quit after that.

Try seeds! Smokey mountain makes a wintergreen flavor that would be comparable to your grizzly! Good luck man

Sunflower seeds will help. Cold turkey is the only way to quit. Put it down and don't look back. I used to smoke and dip, but quit them both. Best thing ever. I still miss both of them some times but I'm glad I quit.

Got an idea. Switch to cigarettes. I just decided to try to quit smoking again and what's worked before was switching to dip. I hate dip. So if the only way I allow myself to get my nicotine fix is to dip then I'll eventually wean myself off by method of being disgusted. It has worked before. My problem is having a few too many drinks and picking up the smokes again.

Sunflower seeds worked for me. I chew gum a lot while driving now, but I don't crave a chew at all.
