Long story long...... we did some work on the Susquehanna River today running jet boats putting out boom for a spill response drill. Due to a big storm last night the river had all kinds of leaves and whatnot that choked our boats out making it pretty dangerous as the river is very fast and rocky where we were working. I went to a local shop to see if he had any thoughts on how to keep our intakes clean so we could work and he had a Black Death 5500 Mud Motor for 4K.

I am not familiar with Mud motors in general but understand (if the guy wasn't lying) that this is a steal....

I would need to put it onto a different boat as mine has a tunnel and I was informed it would not work the way my boat is laid out. That topic is for another thread.....

Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

A little more info....engine is a 2012 with 37 hours......I can get it for 5K.....

It currently sits on a 1860 War Eagle, total package he wants 11K for. I am thinking I want the engine and then want to get a "proper" mud boat built for it. 6K for a war eagle and trailer is a good price, I just do not think these boats were designed to give optimal performance to a Mud Motor.......

The war eagle is a hindrance to that motors performance.

Buy the motor and not the boat. That war eagle will make you hate your life. Plenty of good cheap mud hulls available on here.

2012 MB5500 with "37 hours" for 4k, make sure that is the original tach on it because that is a steal fo rthat motor with that many hours.
