Bad Conditions - Dont do it - Rescued
Well, I woke up this morning to read a Facebook post in a local duck hunting group. It was by a guy who said he watched 2 guys from leaving from (presumably) Port Neches Park (where the SETX mud run was). Claimed they were in what looked like a 14x36 with a 5-7hp long tail with exhaust - and were being taken by the wind. Said the wind was over powering his larger boat, which he had to bank and come retrieve off the bank. Also said the swells in the river were quite high. Also mentioned they weren’t wearing life jackets.
Talk about making me sick to my stomach. I knew exactly who was in distress. I sold him the boat and motor 2 weeks ago, and he is a childhood friend of mine. He called me at 6:30 last night when this was happening, but I missed it. Went to voice mail when I called back. Had no idea he was in trouble. Once he answers or I hear from him…after I tell him I’m glad he’s ok (of course) – I will proceed to tell him how much of bone headed decision it was to go out in those conditions, especially with a wife and 4 kids sitting at home.
Everyone saw the duck hunters who drowned this season plastered all over the news. We all know better than to do that! The FB group managed to set all the BS aside, and came together to get them help. I believe the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department rescued them, but I don’t know any of the circumstances of how, where, and when that happened.
Haven't seen anything on the news about it yet.

That wind yesterday was brutal! The river had whitecaps in it. Heck, I had a hard time controlling my truck going over the bridge to Bridge City.
