Post Mounting Bilge Pumps
How are y'all mounting your bilge pumps in your boats? I tried a search but never really found anything. Is there a good adhesive that can be used that'll stand up?

Same here, leave it loose. The hose and wiring keeps mine in the same spot without it really moving around in rougher waters.

I'm afraid the way my hose is it'll actually pick the pump up if its not secured. Using a very short hose. I don't really have a brace I can attach it to either. Pretty much stuck with mounting it flat to the bottom.

My runners are covered up by the subfloor. I still could do that, but I think I'm going to cut out a piece of 3/4 plywood to screw the pump to and then use the 5200 to attach to the plywood hull.

Mine is just tie wrapped to the other wires and hose, which are secured with those tie wrap anchors with the 3M backing. It doesn't move.

Mine. With the hose clamped at the yop it stands on its own due to the stiffness of the hose. Its also loose so it can be moved a little.

I have a 1/2" PVC pipe for a discharge and a short rubber hose connecting the pump to the PVC. No hose clamps needed, and the pump stays in place because the PVC is strapped to the transom. It works really well and you can still remove the pump for when trash gets in the impeller.

Ditto on the PVC.

I bent my pipe with a heat gun to get it to fit just right and my pump has a threaded fitting I attached to. The drain pipe is wire tied to my motor mount with a 90 at the top that directs the water overboard. Wire ties are cheap, so I just cut them when I need to mess with the pump.

Is anyone routing their bilge discharge through the hull or hunt deck? I'm considering going that route with an inline check valve designed for bilge pump use.

Cons?

Dude, it's a bilge pump. It needs an outlet outside the hull, and needs to sit in the bottom of the boat. They make through hull fittings, or just run the pipe over the side. You are severely over thinking this.

I have 24 inch sides and have thru hulls (2 pumps) at about 22.5 inches.

Damnit, I knew I forgot to add something to my build. I'll get the rope storage cut in before it goes to paint. I'm thinking a retractable yoyo under the front deck., with a hole to pass through the bow.

I thought the through hull was a decent question. Mainly the height and check valve. Id rather put it on the side or back of the hunt deck, but it will be submerged occasionally - hence the check valve.

I have a thru hull on my hunt deck. No check valve. Never had any issues.
Also, my bilge has a removable basket/screen as the base. That is attached to my floor with 5200 marine sealant. I can pop the pump out and clean it if needed.

Mine are on both sides, no check valves, don't think they ever get submerged.

Seriously guys, all kinds of boats have through hull fittings with bilge pumps. Aluminum bass boats sit a lot closer to the waterline than your hunt deck in many cases and never have a problem. Boats actually use a bilge pump to fill the livewell and are through the hull UNDER the waterline. Don't over think it.

x1000 ^^

Another thing to consider, I have seen a lot of guys who have the hose hanging out the back and such. make damn sure that the hose doesn't hang down too low, If you don't have a hull through fitting. If the bilge pumps the hull out and the hose is hanging too low, it CAN pull and vacuum back into the hull when finished and WILL SINK YOUR SHIT!!! Now this is only an issue for those who have tanks in the back, batteries or just a lot of f'n rain water in it.

I know because buddy of mine's bilge had a float switch on it. Hull was full, I mean real full from a down pour at the camp. Float switch was acting up as well as bilge. The bilge pump started to pump out the hull and then acted up. We went inside only to come back out while his shit was going down. The xcanal the camp was in is very shallow so it wasn't that bad to recover, but if the hose falls under the water line, it will reverse flow when shut off and fill the hull.
