Post Crawfish
Anyone catching crawfish yet in the spillway? I have a few traps out but they arent doing much as of last weekend.. maybe 3-4 bugs per trap. Im ready for them to turn on though. I hear they are starting to catch pretty good in the marsh and starting to turn on in the belle river area.

They started to run a little bit. Every time we run it picks up more but it's still pretty slow.

Yeah thats how it is where i am. I know a guy that is has some traps in the "marsh"(no clue where) and he said he can throw a pogie in a trap, come back in the morning, bones and all gone but the longer he holds the trap out the water the more crawfish fall out because they are small. I been catching some pretty onces just not very many yet.

Yea all the crawfish we are catching are quality crawfish but they aren't eating the bait yet. Stays warm next few weeks it'll get better.

Shouldnt be long and they are going to kick off good. I only have 40 traps in the water right now. The rest are hanging on nails in the trees and im tempted to go ahead and bait them up when i run tomorrow.

That aint too bad. I ran the 40 I have out for a sack and about 15 lbs last weekend. I have 300 traps total out there so I think im going to go ahead and bait them all. I really dont have the motivation this year like i have in the past to get kicked off.

Here my sand pit is 46° surface temp. Lakes probably a litter bit warmer

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Netman, we're pushing 50s to low 60s here with all this fresh rain the last couple weeks and no hot weather and very little sun to warm it up.

The Ohio here is 51/52 degrees. There is a small river that runs into the ohio near my fishing location that is 56 degrees. Russ I figured your water temperature to be higher. Guessing the water temperature is slowing the crawfish run down.
