 Lake Seccession; Iva, South Carolina
Just curious if the South Carolina fellascan help me out. My folks looking to move to the Iva, Sc area Near Lake Secession. Can you give me an idea of the area, people, crime rate, and especially if there is any good hunting/fishing on the lake? Any information is appreciated.

Looks like a small town outside of Anderson SC. Not far from lake Hartwell. The upstate has pretty good hunting and fresh water fishing. You are 3-3 1/2 hrs from the coast.
As far as crime, I am not sure. I would bet it is going to be 35-40% old country black folks. Probably way safer than parts of Greenville or Anderson.

Iva is a small country town. I think the crime rate is pretty low. Never been on lake Seccession but have seen it. Its a very small lake but I have heard there is some very good fishing there. They will be very close to Lake Hartwell and Clarks hill lake. Anderson SC and Greenwood SC will be within 20 miles, both are larger towns with malls and multiple places to eat.

Been through Iva a good many times. Always seemed like a nice little town. As said Anderson is close, has a couple nice gun stores and an academy.

Lake Hartwell is a great place to fish and it butts up to WMA land too. I've turkey hunted the upstate a few time and seen birds everytime. You can bear hunt in game zone 1 I believe, near Clemson or head south to lake Marion and Moultrie both killer bass, bream and catfish spots. Iva is old black country people, nice folks. I'm not saying there won't be crime but out there it's mostly theft or drunks raisin hell.

Ok thank you guys. When I started researching, first thing that came up was the double homicide this past January. Concerned me a little.

Yup, game zone 1 has a bear season. Do not know the details because they are not really on my list of stuff to kill.

Definitely don't want to miss. I don't think they run away like deer.
