Post Painting the motor?
Anyone sprayed the whole motor while assembled? Wires, motor, frame, etc?

How'd it hold up? What did you use?

I'm pretty sure that's how they all do it

Yes, still looks good, rustoleum. I'm sure there are much better options for paint. I put a coat of matte clear over it and it still looks the same 2 years later

I'm having mine painted in September. The motor is only two months old and I have been kicking myself for not getting it painted when I bought my boat. I have a prodigy boat and they just paint the whole motor the same way they paint their boats.

I'm not a fan of painting a motor if used in salt water. That salt can get under the paint and corrode away.

I had the metal shrouds, brackets, valve covers sand blasted and powder coated. Sand blasted the MM exhaust a day painted it with a high temperature paint. Wish the block and plastics were stock. The factory paint has largely peeled off and it looks like shit.

As the motor gets hot it will start flaking off and look like shit.

When I first got into the MM scene I cared. Now I use this contraption as it was intended and do not really care about what it looks like. You will spend all of your time trying not to mess it up and not enough time truly enjoying it. At the end of the day looks don't really matter. Keep it well maintained mechanically and enjoy it.

Missed most these post over the weekend, but I painted the whole thing. Pulled the trim off the motor, and all the plastic shrouds off. Cleaned and sprayed the whole thing down.

I also put GG base and G2 on the boat this weekend. That transferred to the lower unit on the GTR. Figure it can’t hurt anything!
