Heard about this a while back from a guy who works at academy when I went to buy my AR-15.
When I was there trying to buy one, they wouldn't even tell me what guns were available. I had to know the exact brand/style/caliber gun I wanted, and they would tell me if it was in stock.
Rumor is that Academy is also keeping track of info on people who buy "assault Ammo" in bulk. (more than 10 boxes at a time)
Also giving that info to the government upon request.

Anyone heard anything about this?

Yeap, after that happened when I was there, I went elsewhere to buy my guns and ammo.
Havent been back since, and really don't plan to.

I heard academy was going under?

From what I can tell, lots and lots of people I know have refused to shop at academy.
And, I don't plan to go there either.

The only reason i even heard of academy is because a few years back they had ridiculously low prices on certain brand name decoys online. Come to find out someone in charge of the web sales got canned over it because they weren't supposed to be that cheap.

Academy is like the Walmart sporting goods section expanded into a whole store. They ain't got anything all that nice.
I did get an automatic clay thrower there on clearance for $225 though.

Well I was told from someone that works there that it is indeed a rumor about the ammo tracking that is not true.
But it is no rumor that they are taking "assault Style Rifles" off the shelves. A bit ridiculous if you ask me.

If Academy goes out of business, what parking lot are y'all going to meet at to fight / settle disputes?

Will "beat downs" have to move to the Waffle House lot?

All of the sporting rifles were back on the shelf at the Academy on Siegen Lane as of Friday night.

My brother worked part time at academy behind the gun counter. He said they don't track anything, they only file the mandatory ATF paper work you have to fill out when you purchase a firearm.

found some 1000rd packs of .22 at wal mart today. could only buy 1, they have a 1 per person limit.

not cool.

M-22, 1000rd packs were $50
325 rd packs forget what brand were 17$
they had some CCI 100 packs but I didn't see the price.

first time I see .22 at my local wal mart in 2 years.

They sell cci at the shell station where i live
