Horrible noise coming from lower unit
Have a 4400 HDR, a month after I got it I noticed a minimal noise coming from the lower unit were the belt connects to the prop shaft. Then it went away I didn't hear it again until duck hunting a few days ago the sound came back and got very bad. It is almost older than the motor running. A seal has not gone out my shaft is still full of grease and I have taken the plug out before filling with grease every time. Could it be a bearing, bent shaft, ect...?

Re: Horrible noise coming from lower unit
Could be a bearing, loose taper lock, some random piece of something that's bouncing around while running (stick, bb, screw, nut, etc)... Does it make any noise when rotating by hand?

Are you feeling any vibration that you weren't feeling before?

Re: Horrible noise coming from lower unit
I've seen plenty of those bearings with normal greasing last well over 500 hours without issue (the one we have now was past 800), so I'm hesitant to say that's the problem, but it's possible. Take it to your dealer if it's under warranty and make it their problem.

Re: Horrible noise coming from lower unit
Take it in if under warranty, or pull the outdrive and take a look if it's not.

Re: Horrible noise coming from lower unit
I talked to mudbuddy and they said its under warranty so I don't think it will be a big deal. And thank y'all for the help.
