hello, ProDrive 27 prop question. thank you for any help
first off there's some great information here and I'm learning a lot I recently purchased a ProDrive 27 hp 2005 long shank. I have a 16 foot alweld with a 20 inch transom .
this is my first mud motor I have played around with props on numerous other boats but I have a lot to learn in the service drive world .
my question is the motor I purchased came with a two blade cleaver prop. I am curious to know if a factory ProDrive prop would be the best option . I can't say where I'm gaining or losing just yet because I don't have another prop to compare it to . but genuinely speaking I'm curious to know if I factory full blade prop would be the better option . I can answer any specifics that would help answer my question and I appreciate any help here thank you so much have a merry Christmas. God bless

What's the diameter of the 2 blade you have? Any pics? The 3 blade tulip is what they have been putting on the 27's. Not sure what they are using, now.

Back in the day, I believe the Cleavers were the factory prop.

Years ago...like the vintage of your motor and the ensuing years, Prodrive got all of their props from Hopkins...which were originally, the 2 blade Cleavers...at least as I understood it.
PD and Hopkins parted ways, PD started using the GD design for their props. The 3 blade on the 27's (now the 25's) and the 2 blade on the 32 (or 34?) and later on the 36's.
Call them up and ask what was the standard issue prop on the 27 Kohler...it was a 3 blade. Just like the picture shows for their EFI 25's. Just like the 3 blades I run on my 36....it was originally for their 27...but it will run on the 36.

your prop is a old Hopkins like Blue stated. That prop will give you the best performance out of that 27

With a little carb tuning and exhaust the 27 will spin the old 32 prop also fwiw.
A loss of 1/8 to 3/16 on diameter will have an effect, much more than that and you will really notice it.
