Havoc 1656 DBST with 50hp Tohatsu 4 stroke
Just recieved my new Havoc 1656 DBST with the .125 hull and a 50hp tohatsu. After the 2 hour break in period I was allowed to run WOT for 1 min every 10 min. Top speed was about 35-36mph by myself. Is this normal speed or a little slow since it's still in the break-in period? I know Havoc is really a speed hull but I figured I'd get low 40s with that 50hp. But so far this boat runs like a dream. Can't wait for the 3rd split of the VA season.

Sounds like a good speed with a 50

I ran a similar rig with a 50 for years and never got over 35 so sounds like you're doing well

I'm got a friend running the same rig but not .125 and will hit 40. He has the gun box and fishing pole/sheep side tail. Or whatever you call it his also has their pods/hunt deck. I will say that I was as impressed with his as I thought I would be compared to my 1556 edge. I did not like how the nose seems to have to slight downward slant. He was running ittjis weekend hit a stump just under the water and it sunk on to the bottom luckily it was only 3-4' deep

Are you on the rev limiter with that prop when running solo?

I don't have a rev meter but as far as listening to the motor and how's sounding I would say it's prolly right up there around the 6000 rpm limit

Here is a link to prop selection. Keep in mind that the aluminum will flex under load compared to stainless. http://tohatsu.com/accessories/prop.aspI went from aluminum 14p on a Mercury 40 to a 12p in stainless, it runs right at the limiter empty, but gained 2.5 when loaded. This is on a 1848 mud hull tho.
