 LED light bars for bowfishing
Anyone using the led light bars for bowfishing? Been searching for someone with a setup but have not found anything. I can get some at a good price but not sure if they are worth it compared to the seelite 50w. Thanks

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
I've heard they reflect off the water. I think Captchaz is putting some on his boat. I have the seelite 50w and love them.

I'd think if you could get a filter/cover for them you'd be way better off

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
I have a off brand 20" dual row on my boat, I just started my hand at bowfishing but I can angle it down, and I have 2 rigid duallys that I move to the front. Its not anything great but it does ok. All i have is a movie of them. The water was very cloudy that night

That's the main reason why I don't shoot slides, aggravating POS's.

Yeah can be a pain, this is how I tie my arrow on as I shoot heavy draw and tend to go through gar. How to tie in a bowfishing arrow using the AMS Sa…: http://youtu.be/1llcIVi3fZsSamsung S5

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
I have used the light bars several times for gigging and bowfishing. I was not bothered by light reflection. I did not really notice it to be honest.

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
To eliminate the bright reflective light for LEDs I use Carplite led light filter covers. They cut out the reflective light and penetrate murky water. They offer them in green and HP's color. They are awesome! Got them off ebay. Copy and paste this description and paste into the ebay search box

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
My rig is all 24" off brand LED light bars. I don't have any problems and they seem to do the trick. I've never noticed the glare, but I always wear yellow lens glasses when I bowfish.

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
Yes they are 25 a piece but still cheaper than led lights in HP's color. 25 for the filter and about 10 for the light, and I can remove the filter if I'm fishing clear water and want the bright light. Just saying, it works great for me and worth the 25 bucks.

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
eBay - lots of sellers, I found the 48w square for 11.99 about yr ago and 50watt for approximately the same, bought ten at a time. So filters plus LEDs still cheaper than color LEDs and you can remove the filters in seconds if bowfishing clear water

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
those little 4" lights are inferior to the 9.5"x11.5" lights. Nearly 2000 lumen difference.
Just buy the 9.5"x11.5" 50w LEDs with at least 21 heat sinks (fins) on the back. make sure the heat sinks are at least 1" deep. Get them in warm white and you will never have to change for clear/muddy water.

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
Ive tried the warm white LEDS, the HPS/Amber filter from "Carplite" off ebay does a much better job at reducing glare and penetrating semi murky to murky waters. Telling y'all, need to try them out - simple to install and well worth it. Goto ebay and type in "Carplite" on the main ebay search box.

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
lots of opinions here so lets get a few things clarified based on real science... light penetration has to do with Lumen output not color of the lens. Reflection is lens color
The yellow/amber colored lights have less reflective glare on the water so you are able to see better
Lumen output impacts the depth the water penetrates as well as distance from the boat that the light will reach
and most importantly, yellow/amber lights will not penetrate murky water. murky water is murky bc of particles mixed into the water. light does not pass through those particles.... even the sun (the brightest light) doesn't pass through, so a 50w 5500lm LED wont cut through murky water either.

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
The filters help filter the white light, which reflects of the particules. Therefore the amber ish light can penetrate in-between the particles. I'm no scientist, just letting everyone know what has helped me shoot more fish while still being able to use LEDs without the reflection.

Re: LED light bars for bowfishing
On my 17x45 jon boat, I am running a 20" Plashlight double row spot/flood bar with 2 square 48w flood lights, one on either side. These are rigged together to a removable mount and wired to a single set of leads to hook to a battery. Have a 14" double row bar in the front as a driving light, just change the angle when I want to fish. I have been fishing this set up for a few months now and I have had good success with them. They light bar was a freebee so that why I started using it. There is some reflection, but its not back at the boat or the shooter.
