running hydrilla
I don't know if its my set up or what but I am having problems running through floating hydrilla. sometimes my rig will cut right through it and sometimes my boat will get on to of it and just float on it. its a real pain in the ass here in Louisiana because this stuff is everywhere. any suggestions would be appreciated because I bring a 85 year man fishing a lot and once I get stuck on this stuff I cant hardly pole off of it, especially in deep water. thanks for any info

Re: running hydrilla
Run motor in bottom hole, use your push pole to shove that crap down away from motor so motor is not "floating" on top of it. Run a 2 blade if your not, them 3 blades aren't as "weedless" as a 2 blade. And sometimes that floating crap is just a lot of work to get thru. Dig deep and keep moving. And GG does help!

Re: running hydrilla
Gator glide will help you slide but at some point shit is too thick for these little motors to stay going. Learn your limits and don't push them when you've got an old man in the boat.

Re: running hydrilla
I know exactly what it is and I have never had any difficulty running in it. Stopping starting you name it.

Re: running hydrilla
Hydrilla can definitely be a bitch to run through/on when it's matted up, but the fishing underneath those mats can be wonderful. If you get stuck, just punch a jig through and reel in some of those hydrilla gorillas lol

Re: running hydrilla
Hyacinth is the Devil. That shit will fuck your day up if it's thick enough.
I've never had any issue with running through hydrilla, it can be a pain to start up in. I just push the tiller handle down quickly, getting the outdrive out the water and clearing it out.
