35 Swomp Ss shaft bent... considering an upgrade
Hey fellas I have a 2012 Swomp Ss 35hp and it currently has a bent shaft right below the bottom bearing. It's actually on it's 2nd bent shaft having replaced the original right after I bought the motor in 2012. Its been a pretty good motor for me having no super major issues with it other then the 2 bent shafts and the original cav plate cracking due to the first shaft being bent I believe. I was considering going for an upgrade to the new 37hp Swomp lite version mainly cause I thought I heard the shaft size was stepped up along with going away with the u-joint. Any input would be nice especially from a pro staff member and anyone that has a new 37lite currently. Any speed gains/ known or just discovered issues/ likes or dislikes. Thanks Brent

Frank posted his experiences recently. Do a quick search, shouldn't be hard to find.
So backwater never had any insight into your issues from last fall when you brought up the bent shaft the first time?

No not really...to be honest I never really bugged them about it last fall... I'll have to give them a shout this week and drop it off next week when I drive thru to head to ND. See what they have to say.

I can't imagine them not being of help, after the interactions I have with them. And I've never given them a dime of my money, so its not like they have any reason to help me with anything. Good luck.

I think that upgrade is merited. The EFI is cool, love my 26.5 and the starting and low idle. No U-joint and a beefier shaft sounds like the ticket...
