We fished a bit, couldn't keep vegetation off our lures other than a topwater. Worked a toad on top of the salvania a bit. What's effective out there?

Texas rigged creature baits thrown right at the base of trees. Watermelon red, black/blue, or black neon are the best colors. A chrome rattle trap if you can find clean water. Or a fluke fished around the trees.
