Willow Tree Magic
I was bass fishing the very south end of Beaver Lake (near Goshen) in Arkansas a few weeks back when I saw a very large old pontoon boat stripped down to just deck and motor. Two dudes had it loaded down with willow trees and concrete blocks. They stopped and asked if I was crappie fishing. I assumed they were baiting crappie holes.
The White River/ Beaver lake is dropping almost a foot a week, and while I am out bass fishing, I keep finding their willow trees. Dog gone if they are not the best bass cover around. I do not even worry about getting hung up in them. When I find them, I run a Zara Spook over the top. If it does hang up, just twitch it and bass hit with a vengeance. I have not fished top water over one of their willows yet and failed to at least get a strike.
I doubt I ever sink Christmas trees again. The banks are covered with willows so all I got to do is bring something to weight them down.

Re: Willow Tree Magic
Some of my best spinnerbait bites were dragging one through willow tops on Toledo bend. Damned good cover.
