Prodrive/mikuni air filter relocate
My air filter took a beating this year with mud and water constantly being thrown right into it. Even with the pre-filter on it i was sucking up water and mud. I want to relocate the air filter to on top of the motor i came up with this today as a prototype. Anyone done it or have a good reason why i shouldnt do it?

Re: Prodrive/mikuni air filter relocate
In all seriousness, how in the hell are you kicking up that kind of mud and water to get in air filter? I have never had anything close to getting plugged up on my filters. I did however go with a "flower pot" style air filter and it acted as a guard, rain shield, etc. This is an old pic, but worked very well. Drilled a small hole in the housing at the bottom. That way any sideways rain that got inside, would have a place to drain. IMG_2883.JPG

I like that flower pot though. Did you fabricate that yourself? And is it actually a flower pot?

Crankcase vent filter. My air filter adapter for my mikuni didn't have a threaded port for the vent to tie into, so I put a filter on it. This pic was from prob 2008. Lots use to run em like that. I think now, all vent's tie back into suction side of carb.

No, had a k&N and took it off to put this on for rain protection. Used one on my kawasaki build recently also.

Awesome, they are sold out right now but i’m definitely gonna get one. Love it when people have good answers to my questions haha. I noticed you have what looks like a support bracket from your manifold to the filter, whats that about?

Re: Prodrive/mikuni air filter relocate
Oh, back in the day some had issues with their mikuni rubber boots tearing and the damn carb falling off. I took the origional briggs carb screws and some aluminum scrap plate. I made it so that the I could "sandwich" the carb bewteen the plates thus taking the stress off the rubber boot. Worked great. IMG_2404.JPG IMG_2403.JPG
