Removed foam - would not recommed
SO I saw a few posts about flotation, and I decided that since my 1644 Go Devil is 20 years old (new to me), well..the foam must be water logged. if you don't want to read any farther here's a spolier: it wasn't. Probably around 1% even showed it had even ever been wet, so after three days of labor I saved myself around 30 lbs. I'm not trying to convince you to take it out or leave it in, just sharing so you will know what's ahead. Oh, and some owner prior to me had removed it from the floor, so that was not a factor.
You will see from the pics I started out trying to cut a hatch, thinking I'd have some handy storage afterwards. Well, I tried a crowbar, a chisel, my hands, and a power washer and all I did was make a mess. On day two I said Fu<< IT and got out the sawzall and just cut the boxes off. It was still a chore, and underneath the front deck.......well, that sucked balls. Anyway, I guess I have more floor space and I need to clean up the cut on the front to have a little storage.
My last boat did not have flotation, it was a commercial hull Gator Trax. I'm not worried about sinking, I run shallow. Again, these pics are just for info (and a laugh), your own call on taking yours out or leaving in. I'll try to put more pics below.

Re: Removed foam - would not recommed
I’ve been considering removing mine but have been hesitant because the foam under my floor has been dry every time I’ve checked. I think you helped me decide to leave it alone lol. Yours turned out nice, probably not worth the pita though.

For what it's worth, I like the end product with you gaining more space in the boat. Looks like now you have the length to stick poles or even a rod holder and stuff to the side under the middle seat, if you cut out the other side. Looks good from in the pics.
