Just looking for a couple of ideas of how some people might have mounted their transducers on the back of their Prodrive Hunt decks. I am thinking possibly getting something mad like prodigy uses that is adjustable.

Check out the Vexilar Alumaducer.

I have one and it works fine.

It's a pain to lower and raise but mostly if you hit something or forget to put it back up, it's not very forgiving.

I would talk to someone that has the ram mount which is an aluminum rod the connects to the transducer (kayak mount). Just not sure at what speed they start to kick out if the water. I'll go that route next time because when I'm using the side imaging, you do go very fast anyway.
I also like setxlongtail's setup. If I remember right he used a piece of PVC in his spud pole mount. If you left that one down and broke it, its cheap to fix.

Here ya have it, I have less than $10 in the whole rig including the stick of plastic conduit from the hardware store. Plain ol PVC would have done fine too.

I have a stern saver epoxy mount. Sand to bare metal the rough it up with 60 grit and follow directions. Been on my boat 6-7 months without issue.

The kayak ram mount starts kicking out around 12 mph and not giving you a reading. I added another ram mount to the back to make the kayak mount more rigid and it works good now.

It's nice and it's clean, but doing it again I'd epoxy on or bolt on one of those white pucks to mount my transducer to.

I'll post pics next time I'm in the shop.

I have the ram transducer mount and it won't stay in past a fast idle. If you go to get on step it raises up. Other than that I like it. I do t have a hunt deck though so it's just a staight line down to the water and that gives it a good pivot point to turn on.

Mine reads well at wide open speeds and you can also pull the pin out and turn the transducer around and view different angles. Pretty handy. That was my main concern with the Ram mount, coming out of the water at speed.

Newbie question....What are the reasons behind mounting them this way?......

It's so they are easy to remove and so they will give a bit instead of breaking if you hit something. These boats are obviously used in shallow water and we'd rather not have them on or have them getting broken constantly.

If you mount it too high it won't give you a reading when the boat is running on plane.
