 25 Kohler swap
Looked everywhere can't find out which engines are compatible with a GD LT that came with the 25 horse Kohler. Looking to go as big an engine as I can with this frame. Don't currently have the motor so I can't look at the frame to see what the SN says if Anyone knows it would be a great help.

 Re: 25 Kohler swap
I think the generac has the same footprint and shaft height. You can make others work with some modification.

 25 Kohler swap
Gt990 or 999, 33-40hp
You can go to a big block briggs or kohler or something else but the shaft height and foootprint are gonna be different so it will require some modification. The 30hp kohler is also the same exact block so you could build yours up or do a direct swap with one of those too.

 Re: 25 Kohler swap
The 30 is the same block, and the generac is the same size and pretty sure the correct dimensions.

 Re: 25 Kohler swap
Look it up. Fairly certain the 33 and 40 are same block. Look up the shaft height for your motor, then look at the shaft height for whatever you're thinkin about using. That will be the most important part for you to overcome. I'm also nearly certain they use the same mounting pattern, but that can be easily overcome.

 Re: 25 Kohler swap
You will, but the generac isn't really a "big block", if you are interested in that one. Look on kohlers website at specs, then look at generacs. Shaft height is going to be your main obstacle.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-40hp-64l ... 3a9328640ehttp://www.kohler-engine-parts.opeengin ... rawing.pdfActually looks like the kohler may be a cunt hair taller. I think you could make it work though. There's a drawing in the ebay link, in the pics.

 Re: 25 Kohler swap
got this thing off my friends new boat the other day, the motor runs pretty strong but havent had it in the water yet. im fully expecting that once i get it on my boat im gona be wanting more power. Any way of telling what model this engine is? ive read a lot of the 25 kohlers cant be honed bc they some nickel silicone coating in the cylinders. also how much power could i expect with it bored 25 over? would it be worth it?

 Re: 25 Kohler swap
I actually came on here to ask a similar question. I have a 20hp kohler beavertail. Yes 20hp kohler not 27hp....they did make them. I am looking to get more hp. Would a kohler 27hp or 30hp bolt right on? I think they are the same block but I might be mistaken.

 Re: 25 Kohler swap
Don't think so. The 20's are a smaller engine. You will likely have to do some modifications.
