I've got to say, I'm pleased with the rig. It does very well in shallow water and mud, but it does very good in rough water (way better than expected for a mud boat). The motor is stout. I just wished it had neutral. When I was looking at buying a mud boat, I wanted something that was simple in design to prevent being stranded due to breakage. I've owned a long shaft in the past and never got stranded, that's why I went back to Go Devil. If you want a package deal to hunt, fish, or just play; I would suggest taking a look at this rig.

PS --- Rework that motor floor rope to be about 4 inches shorter with
a second loop abot 8 inches above --- the lower loop provides
your running neutral and the upper loop will hold the motor amid-ship
when idling or poling across a flat at lo speed....

This is how it came when i bought it. I strap it down a little different now. I should actually get some time to ride in Wallisville soon. I've been invited a few times just couldn't make it. Now i'm ready to play...

When I first got the boat it ran it's best 29.4mph on my gps w/ me and my wife (she's little), 6 gallons of fuel, and two life jackets. Lately I see 26 and get a little over 27 (depending on wave activity) with myself, a friend, a little fishing tackle, and 6 gallons of fuel. The width of the boat helps distribute the load so even with 3 guys it really doesn't hurt the speeds that much. Now this is all in deep water. It does feel faster in about 6 inches to 1 foot but I've never looked at my gps then. The newest speeds are with my governer bumped to 4200 out of water, spinning 4050 - 4150 in the water, but with a little wear on the prop. The only other things I have done is installed GoDevil stainless exhaust, K&N air filter and switched to synthetic oil. I don't think the air filter and oil really matters. I had some prop work done, but it killed my speeds so I had them bring it back to factory. The boat gets on plane great, loaded or not. It runs the mud flats great. The only problem on a mud flat, if you get it going sideways you might as well just hang on. You just have to pay a little more attention when turning in this situation.

I work for Entergy at the power plant so I always get to watch people ride while I'm at work. Let me know when you guys are going out there I'd like to go. I've only been out there a couple of times with Keith and a couple of his buds.

Good looking boat and good numbers also. As far as the sliding in the mud,all of them will slide in shallow water/mud conditions you just have to get used to it.

Is it for sale? how much is this boat? Or how much did you pay for it?

I paid $12500 out the door as you see it. I think the boat alone is about $5000. I bought it at Heritage Marine in Beaumont. I think Rick has his demo for sale (1856). He'd probably sell just the boat. It's a round chine. Mine is square chine. The round turns a little better but the square is a little faster. As far as the sliding, I've learned to drive it since the first time I took it out. I guess I was used to my longtail on a weldbuilt. It wasn't fast enough to slide! I need to add some new pics. The prodrive lights look great on the front and I think I'm going to add hydroturf.

Had my GPS on a week ago running @ SeaRim and was going over 28mph across a flat. It still had a little more but I ran out of room and had to shut it down. The week before I had my prop put to a little over 12" on the pitch. When I had it checked out, it was at 11" and lost about 1/8" of blade surface. It was a 12" pitch from the factory. The the time before when they fixed the rake on one of the blades, they must have the pitch??? Now when you pull the trim up in deep or shallow water, you can feel a difference in acceleration. Much better!!!

Prop science and technology is the most overlooked mod for a MM....

Got a tweaked 2 blade that works well for me....

With duck season coming I now have 3 new props to get me thru the season...

Installed new GD 3-blade prop and Marshmellow Exhaust w/out baffles. Ran great!!! Consistent 28-29 mph in open water with a little ripple on the water. After palying with the trim I managed to bump 30 a couple of times. With the old prop and stock stainless exhaust I was turning 4000 rpm. At best I was turning 3730 rpm today. Most of the time it hung around 3680 rpm. I may need to get the Mikuni kit and try to spin it 4000. It should run 30 all the time.

I bet you could get there with a simple port and polish on the heads and intake keeping the stock carb.... but if you gonna do that go ahead and get the mikuni and then you could be running 30mph at 3/4 throttle....
