 SLOW ASS BOAT
recently purchased a 23hp GDLT. Its runnin on a 15ft by 'round 60 in wide solid welded boat. by welcraft. Its seems to be going slower than a coons ass on the side of the road!! This is is my first GDLT and i need some help. Should i get a smaller boat? or do i need to get a diff/new prop?? Cause i'll tell you one thing it aint impressing my padnas much. and im scared da ladies aint gonna like it either.
Please help

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
How fast are you going (GPS it)? Long tails are not known for their speed, they are known for the torque they put out...

Try taking the wood outta the bottom of it. Youll be surprised at how much that weighs.

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
Ha that's crazy that it's your old boat!! Well seems to be runnin alright motor wise but this is my first longtail an idk! Gonna GPS it tommorrow and measure the prop in case of wear. Seems that folks up on YouTube have videos haulin ass and doing jumps and shit!! Lol GD's website suggests u should drop an inch of pitch for bigger boats. Maybe I should try that?? I'm guessing i'm going about 5mph. Deff not 18-20. But I'll check it out and see

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
Thats crazy 5MPH thats un heard of i know i had the prop re-worked on it and it ran like a battle ship, the guy i sold it to used it to hunt rivers from what i understand and rivers mean sand so i'm sure the prop has wear, the boat with just me in it 180 would freakin move. That is a 15' 44" boat 44" being on the bottom, didn't never measure the top. I named it also "PATHFINDER" cause thats what that boat is, i used that thing all the time, was a bad ass little boat for me, i'm sure its something with the prop need to measure it from blade to blade let me know what it is.

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
You should be getting atleast 17-18 mph have you tried a tune up and recup on your prop. Try those I bet it helps alot.

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
Alright so I just measured prop. It's 8 & 1/2 inches. I'm guessing time for a new one?? Also I'm gonna pull out gps prop today or tommorrow and get a reading. For the prop do I just buy a brand new one from go devil? Or how's that work. Also what about a new exhaust? This one is all rusty and old. I was thinking a bps exhaust? Looks cool but not sure of the sound. Saw it had a silencer for hunting and then guess I could take it out for a louder sound when just cruising around. Also was thinking this might give me a little more power?!?! Appriciate any input.

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
The bps will give ya a lil more power, but even with the silencer in, it's still pretty loud. Not obnoxious, but loud. If I'm not mistaken, the heads were already port & polished by EVT a few yrs ago, so the exhaust & new prop should make th ol slow devil scoot pretty good.

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
Yes it is definitly time for a new prop, it has been reworked once maybe twice if i'm not mistaken, Just order a new one from Go-devil or you could pick you up from my buddy with SETXPerformance.com he can also get the new muffler for you, that ought to wake that little motor up a little. you'll definitly see a difference with a new prop and exhaust. His name is keith and tell him i referred you to him, i know him real well! Hope all this helps, cause that engine you have right there is a performer, i can vouch for it!

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
I don't think you can get that single crossover for the small vanny's but i can call and check it out for you. If you can that is one hell of a sounding exhaust, i too have it on my boat, sounds like a little Baja coming around the corner, but i also have the 35vanny. Also i wouldn't get a heavy cup for that motor, the 23 is a high strung motor, not known for producing alot of torque, i had the heads done after i got it and it did a little better on the low end but also i tried to run a heavy cup prop on there and it did not work. Stick with stock cup. Between all the guys on here we'll get ol' pathfinder scootin again. LOL You got yourself a good motor, now we just got to get it right again, i'll post up some options for you on exhaust after i talk to keith!

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
You can get the crossover for the 23, I hooked Chase up with Keith a while back. He got the Mikuni and BPS combo for his 23 LA Special. Take out that baffle and it's a screamin match to talk to each other when ya 2 ft apart. I think you'll like it.

 Re: SLOW ASS BOAT
Alright cool. Is he on mmt? Or did any of y'all talk to him yet? Also u think it's cheaper to go through him or through BPS? I want to get the cross over I guess. Since that one sounds the best (loudest) but I would kinda like to see a picture first to know what I'm buying.
