Post Not enough power??
Just purchased a 17X44 Gatortrax and put a 24 hp mudbuddy LT on this boat. Took the boat out yesterday and the boat did not run well at all. My trolling motor push the boat about as fast as the mudbuddy did. Max speed was about 8 mph. The motor seemed to be running fine out of the water but in the water opened up all the way it sounded like it was choking out. It made me think the boat was to heavy for this motor. What are some ideas of what the problem could be?

That size motor should push that boat mid-high teens easy. What is the transom height and angle?

I believe the transom height is 18 inches (measured from the inside of the boat).

Transom height for a LT should be close to 15" I believe.
