Post 1854 Pro Drive 36PD/FPR Stage I Bowfishing/Blind
MM Brand: Pro Drive
Horsepower:36 + Mods
Boat Brand: Pro Drive
Boat Size: 1854
Boat Layout: Open/ Moveable Gun Box / Extended Deck

Speeds | Shallow Water:n/a
Speeds | Deep Water:27-28 choppy water
Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: 2 guys (400), dog (75), bowfishing platform (200 lbs) 2 batteries and troller (100bs)
Conditions Tested In: Deep Water

Bought in June of 09. Ive been slowly adding details as i can afford them.
First was Hydorturf, i bought Gator boat brown which matches the Pro Drive (Green) very well. Layed it all down using Dap contact cement. A little over a year and havent had a problem with it yet. Great stuff highly recommended.

Next I installed LED lights from Toller boat Works. They are super bright. The pics dont do them justice.

Next was the boat blind. I found a really cheap Cabelas brand pop up blind in the Bargain Cave with the rain top that i couldnt pass up. I live up north so i started with windblockers and then i ordered the shaggy panels to hang on the blind. I then zip tied as much grass to it as i could and still fold it up. I love the shaggy panels they really add depth to blind and since its a pop up you cant really add alot of vegetation because it still has to fold down. I added as much grass as i could while still being able to fold it down and store it. Shot alot of birds out of the blind last year, can comfortably hunt 4 out of the blind using the gun box for the middle 2 guys. It gets really comfy for 3 guys with the pedestal seat mounts down the middle and room for the stove. Blind is really low profile and the top can be flipped open to stand and stretch. The shooting hole is eye level not straight down the middle so calling and watching birds work is a dream all while remaining seated. The shooting port is more in front of the blind so you just stand out and up and the birds dont even see you stand up.

A few good pics from the blind.

My Dog

This spring i made my own custom bowfishing platform. I used 1x1" 16ga steel, and 3/4" round for the rails. It all came out really nice, it has the stability to shoot 4 but its really close to taking water over the front. I usually only shoot 2-3 guys, and its very stable. Deck height is 15" off the deck, railings are 18" off the shooting platform. I installed the biggest rivet nuts i could find on the gunwales and front deck for easy on and off....the whole thing comes off with 10 bolts in less then 5 min with 2 guys. Lights are very bright ..they are 150watt HPS from econolight, ran with a 2000 watt Honeywell inverter genny. Almost as quiet as a honda for half the price.

I just recently finished up with some mods. MY mods include heads... EVT Stage II,EVT roller rockers, stock springs shimmed .120. Ported stock intake. 42 MM Mikuni Carb with BPS adapter, and Marshmellow performance exhaust. The exhaust sounds awesome, its not to loud and has a great throaty sound...i love it. Very easy to install.

Im still in summer mode so i tested it with my bowfishing loads. With the new updates to the motor, with 2 guys my dog, my bowfishing platform (200lbs) ..troller and 2 batteries (centered in the front compartment..100lbs) ....im getting a good consistant 27 at 4300 in some heavy chop. (Previous was 21-22 at 3750 under same load in deep water)

The throttle response is night and day and she spins up to 4 grand in no time. The mods definetly helped my load carrying ability. With my platform under the same loads and no mods i was get 21-22 mph now im getting... 27-28. I usually carry alot of weight and with the same loads i picked up 5 mph all around. In fact when i took a 200lb guy out i ran the same speeds and i actually put the prop up too far and pushed it over 4450 which i didnt like, so with more wieght it actually runs the same speeds with the stock prop. I saw it hit 29mph for a sec when i was by myself and then i realized it was turning some high rpms and decided to back it down. It was still building speed when i shut it down so a little more prop and she will see 30s under a decent load fairly easily. I also switched to the bps squeeze throttle and love it, its alot easier then twisting IMO. Overall im am very pleased with my purchase. As you can see i use this boat for everything including some bass and catfishing. Its a great all around boat that i will probably own for life, it does everything i need it to and does it well.

I have LED's in my boat too... got em from oznium.com for super cheap and they are SUPER BRIGHT. I went with the blue color.

http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips

These are pretty cool, lots of light and lots of lenghts - depending on how long you want em.

Good deal bro....got your message and i'm glade you got everything together.

Let me know when you are ready for the cam!!!!

Also, you might want to play with jets....dont know what a stage 2 jetting is in the carb but i bet its different than stage 1.

Let us know what a biger prop gets ya....FYI i had good luck out of a hopkins 12x14 with light tip curl...willet ran good with a 12x13.5? and if you can get his prop from him i bet you will like it.

later

Post Re: 1854 Pro Drive 36PD/FPR Stage I Bowfishing/Blind
I took the bowfishing platform off to do a little crappie fishing. Lost 200 pounds up front. Still had two batteries and the troller on the front (100lbs) wifey (120) me (180) dog (75) gas and some crap in the gun box. I was bumping 30mph in deep water turning 4400+. So i gained a mph or two, but only lose a few when i put more guys in the boat. I definetly need some more prop, i cant get it to go any faster with just me in the boat it starts running to many rpms and only goes a few mph less with 3 or 4 guys. I can run 4 guys 27 all day long when before i would be lucky to hit 21.

So all in all it did what i wanted it to, it carries a big load alot faster. New prop and i could probably pick up a few top end mph unloaded but the load carrying ability is outstanding.
