 my new longtail
Just picked up my first longtail. I think I got a great deal. Its a 2006 31hp beavertail with less than 50 hrs and I payed 1600$ for it. I think I got a great deal. It runs great. I had to do some major blind modifications to make it fit, but it does now.

 Re: my new longtail
I ran a 5hp one time. lol, the 31 is a handful! Its going to take some getting used to, but most of the places I hunt are relatively close to the boat ramp and with the 31 it will be about 5 minute boat ride to the spot. I ran it around my favorite hunting hole the other day for about 45 minutes and my hand is still cramping up on me. lol

 Re: my new longtail
I put a new prop on it that is in good condition. I bought it from a friend. I was also thinking a fuel problem, but its hard to say. I was going to change the spark plugs and the oil and oil filter and see what happens.

 Re: my new longtail
If you have a tach on it, let us know how many rpms its turning.
That motor should run between 3600-3900 rpms.
If you're not getting the rpm's, you may have too much prop.
If you're getting alot of rpms, but not much speed, could be under-propped.
My 31 gdlt on a 19x60 boat would run 18-19 with just me and 16-17 with me, 2 other guys and a hunting load.

 Re: my new longtail
might try cleanin the crab too, might not b the problem, but never hurts, especially on a used motor
