of 36HP Vanguard does B&S make?

The reason I ask is I go to a local mower/saw shop to get some valve cover bolts and a fuel pump vacuum hose. The guy wanted the 3 numbers on the side of the motor. I thinking jeeeezzzzz, I need 8 bolts and you don't know which one.

So is my rookieness showing or do I have a right to think he is just being a pain in the azz?

They all do that. You can't hardly get a briggs dealer to sell you anything unless you have the serial number on the motor. I'm sure most of it is the same on all models, but they do have a bunch of em. Guess they just want to be certain they aren't selling the wrong parts.

with briggs he has to have the numbers to look anything up. even tho those parts are the same some models have different intake and muffler setups and shaft sizes galore.
