Im sure im beating a dead horse, but Im new at all this mud motor stuff and want to get to the point. Which brand is more reliable in stock condition? Best? etc? and why?

Both brands are awesome, as long as you do the maintenance the motor will last you. They both aremade for the same brutal punishment they are intended for. Difference is one is shaft driven and one is belt driven, one is a manual or hydraulic reverse and one is instant, pretty much as said before its a preference thing, Pro-Drive is the Full Power Reverse(FPR), ratchet the lower end around and you have the same power in reverse as you do forward. Gatortail changes the revolution of the prop, sort of like a cork screw int the mud. Hope this helps in your decision. Both motors have good speeds loaded and light, both motors come with a warranty. You'll enjoy your decision with going with either motor. oh and GTR has a free floating handle where as Pro-Drive has a fixed handle.

Been having a pro-drive for two years it works great. But if you frog a lot, I think the gator tail would be a better option for the instant reverse.

Both are great products and I had to have one of each. Go drive them both and see which best suits your needs.
