I had not seen this until today. Doesn't make sense to me but the new law states if you were born on or after January 1 1984 you have to take the Safety Boater Course.

The previous law was if you were born on or after January 1 1988.

Yes that has been out to the public for about a year now. I took mine and got my legal requirements for my hull.

Yeah, just read on the TPWD site they changed to Sept 1, 1984. So he probably needs it over here too. I make it by just over a year

man yall well over a year late.... this was decided on last june 2009 that it would be in effect this july 2010

I think its great. I think everybody should have to have some type of safety training.

I took mine on the internet to. Its not to bad. They let you print a temporary certificate and send you the blue card in the mail.

So you young ones are saying that you'll need to CHEAT to be able to pass a test about knowing the safety rules of boating? No wonder so many accidents happen.
