Post All Right Boys - Pic the Right Motor for this rig
Here's your boat: Lowe Roughneck '03. 1760MT (mod v w/ tall, 20" transom). hull weight I believe is around 500 lbs.
(two pod style vs. full, rear bench)

2-3 guys, 90 decoys, boat blind and a dog.

surprising to me, it's only rated for a 40 on the USGS cert.

what are you throwing on the back of it. (I'm not completely positive a 35 is enough) thoughts?

If somebody in LA had built a 60" wide 17 fter, it would be rated for a 115.

Post Re: All Right Boys - Pic the Right Motor for this rig
Thanks for the comments so far and you're right; I should've given a bit more info as to type of water I'm running. sorry about that.

we'll be hunting a clean, clear(er) shallow water basin with water depths averaging 12-18" and maybe 2ft at the deepest.

there's a number of deeper water cuts used to motor out and into the area, but the real gem would be to be able to cut across the basin vs. doing a big end around.

Part of me really wants to try a surface drive on this becuase; 1. never had one and it looks awesome. 2. it'd certainly work 3. I already own an alaskan 18' with a big A$$ outboard 4. this is where i hunt....now. thats not to say I wouldn't want to trailer it up and throw it into a weed choked river/bayou sometime (particularly, when I have the other rig).

having said that, my struggle is still do I just jack a Yami ? or go with a surface drive? (and by the comments, I see that maybe outboard is still the way to go - probably not the best mud hull?)

and the reason I put it here is that I figured it was more of a boat AND motor discussion where it's not a review , but a "critics choice" commentary of "if you had this hull, match up a motor".

and for the record.... I did post it in the other forum as well. was just looking for more opinions.
