 Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
I was just wonderin, if you were on public land with say a 25 hp limit and had a 23 with some minor mods (exhaust, intake, carb) could the warden give you a ticket? I dont see how he could prove the hp on the spot. What chall think?

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
I think if the motor says 23 and your in a 25 area and your not drawing loads of attention to yourself "its really loud, acting stupid, or anything else" that you would be fine if he ask questions just give him a straight up answer. over here in mississippi all they really want to know is do you have your paper work in order and limits right nothing more really

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
I was hunting in Morgan City last season and I talked to a warden about this issue... He said if you mod your 23 you better keep all the stock stuff you take off.. Your motor will be classified as a higher horse power motor and they can prove it with a device they hook up to your motor... But I do agree with the above post.. If your not drawing attention to yourself you should be fine.. dont give them a reason to stop you... But just remember they can, and a 23 being moded higher than a 25 you could be fined

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
I hunt WMA, they dont really raise too much hell about it here.(East Texas) These guys here run big stuff, and loud way too loud. No airboats or anything like that. We get checked everytime we come off the water. My buddy runs a 27 pd and they never say anything. I want a 27 but dont want any warden hassle, not sure what too get...

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
Mods don't mater say you are in a 25hp restricted area and as long as you have a 25hp block it's a 25 no mater what you have done to it the serial numbers on the block will say it all if you ever got stopped

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
LOL...some people would be gullable to believe that kind of nonsense.. If they don't ask or can't tell then you don't tell, plain and simple. They would have a hard time proving on site that you are pushing more ponies than stock.. good luck....all I got to say is they gotta catch me first..

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
I have run my 36 in plenty of areas where all you could run is a 25 been checked and never had any problems.

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
No I don't believe it but if for sone reason the GW wanted to be a dick and u have a mod 23 in a restricted area you can bet ur ass they can give u a ticket. Yes u could and prolly will get put of it but it's the fact of having to jump through the hoops is all.

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
if i was wrote a ticket for a modded motor in a restricted area then you could be dam sure im going home to put stoc parts on it and challenge him to prove i was running over the hp limit there not going to worry that much about the tiny ticket that might ensure from doing this enough to challenge it at all no matter how big a as# the guy is

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
I talked to quite a few guys who hunt WMA's with 25hp restrictions that run their 36hp engines. They said the GWs never give them any issues.

Re: Mods on horsepower restricted waters?
I know that even though a brigs motor says 25 but it probaly will dyno + or - 3to5 hp with that being said they will have alot to prove Even if the GW was being a a$$ if it is stickered correctly and the model number is on the block than your good no matter what
in the wma rule book what does it say 25hp limit I'm guessing so but does it say anny thing about cubic in or mods? People mod out boards in the same areas not just mud motors and have been doing so for years like the old 3 cylinder tahotzu (sp)
