Post New Prop = No Power
I have a 25 horse go devil longtail, I have ran a 9x6 and 9x7 prop for years with good results. My average speed used to be around 18 mph on my 16/48 riveted boat. I just got a new 9x6 prop from go devil and ran it. My top speed was 15 mph with barely any load. My out of the water rpm is 4150, but running wide open in the water I am only getting 2700 rpm, I know go devil changed the pitch of their props this year, but that sure does seem like a big performance loss. Any ideas?

Part of the reason could be your hull may be beat up, especially near the transom. You may want to grease the shaft and do engine maint. also, it definetley wont hurt.

You say Go Devil "changed the pitch of their prop". If you got a 9x6 then thats what it is. Only way to change pitch would be to go to a 9x7 or somethin. I dont really follow what ya meant by that.

I tried to get a 9x7 from go devil. They said they no longer offer it for the 25 horse becuase they changed the pitch of their props. By pitch, I think they mean the angle of the blades. All maintenance is kept up on the motor. The shaft stays greased, fresh oil, fuel filter and air cleaner. I am wondering if I should call go devil and see what they think.

They did redo their props to make them last longer. Drop down a pitch is what fixed mine. Went from a 9X6 to a 9x5. Sent it back and they will repitch it for free.
